Just back from a quick trip to the Magic Kingdom with my daughters ages 24 and 20. We've been to WDW a LOT, my oldest daughter has even been to Disneyland Paris. However, we've never taken a tour so I booked one for June 29. It is pricey - $79 per person plus the ticket to the park, and there is an age limit - 16 and up, but for real Disney fans I would say it is a must do.

Our tour guide was Maureen from Oregon who graduated from the University of Notre Dame. This was a real highlight for us as myself and my oldest daughter are Saint Mary's grads and my youngest daughter is a junior there (Saint Mary's is across the street from Notre Dame). Maureen came to Disney by way of the college intern program and hasn't left. Her passion for Disney was evident. Even though the tour was 5 hours, I wished it was longer.

We got to ride 2 rides - Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion (sometimes they do Pirates but it is being refurbished). We learned about the history of these rides and got to "cut" in front of everyone in line. We had a boat to our selves and a stretch room to our group.

The tour takes you behind the scenes and in the tunnels. We did stop along the way to sit in the shade to listen to our guide. And, lunch at Columbia Harbor was included.

Because we had a 9 o-clock tour, we got to enter the park before opening. Heck we got to the park even before the monorail was working (parked in row 3 Aladdin). So before our tour started, we got some great pictures on Main Street USA and at the castle without anyone else around.

I don't want to spoil the tour with all of the information I learned, but if you have been to the Magic Kingdom many times and are looking for something different, this is it.

Nice! Thank you for sharing.

Is the HM on every your usually? My daughter is a big fan and this would make a great gift when she is older.

Did they give many details and fun facts about HM?

Apparently the ride selection is up to the guide and which rides are operating. The facts about HM were really cool - one is the castmembers who worked there really believe it is haunted as there have been ghost sightings. There are also characters in HM that appear on other rides in the park.

Also I forgot to mention, they give you a little gift for taking the tour - very nice Disney touch.

Thank you for the report. We have this same tour scheduled for July 12th @ 9AM. So glad you liked it. How early did you get in the park?

DH and I did this tour a couple years ago while on our "Adult's only" trip. We weren't originally going to do this but we figured what the heck, the kids are still too young for us to do when they are with us. Luckily they still had a few spots left for the next day and I am so glad that they did because it was awesome. We can't wait to take each of our girls on this tour....our oldest is 14 and we decided that either DH or I will take her on the tour for her 16th birthday while the other goes off with our youngest DD who will be 14 at the time. Then when our youngest turns 16, she will go with either DH or I on the tour while the other goes off with the oldest, the tour will be a special time for either mom/dad and daughter for their birthdays.

We are taking DD and her friend to WDW in Aug for a grad trip. They have their plans and DH and I have this tour booked!!! Thanks for sharing-- we are so excited!

Have to agree with jfeasel! My husband and I took this tour in September 2014. It was great! We also road Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion. The lunch at Columbia Harbor House was delicious. We are taking the tour with our kids when we go back in December 2015. They don't know- it's an early Christmas present! Our tour guide was great. We did the 8:30 tour, an empty Main Street is a wonderful perk!

Thanks for the review. It is a great tour. Don't forget the discounts...15% for AP, DVC or Disney Visa.

I just booked this tour for September a few days ago! I'm taking my first solo trip and can't wait. I've wanted to do this tour for a long time!!!

Nice write up! More people need to know about this great tour. We did it about a decade ago and loved every minute, and every review of it I've read ever since has been glowing.

I guess, as others say, it is up to the guide, but I've never read a review that didn't mention they stopped at the HM. If your DD is a fan of the HM then she's probably a Disney fan and would love the tour at the right age. As you can guess, though, going offstage does destroy the illusions a bit. It may bother some, but I loved it.

She is like me and loves to know behind the scenes secrets. So this tour would be perfect when she is on age. I just will keep quiet about whether or not HM is included so that she is not disappointed should it not be.

Sounds great! This is on my bucket list of things to do at Disney. But I have a few years before my children are old enough.

Thanks for the review. We're doing this tour in Dec. I booked it as a surprise for my husband but then gave it away because I couldn't keep it a secret!

I am booked for Nov 18th and looking forward to it since I have never done the tour. Thanks for sharing!

Let's see, my youngest is 1, so only 15 years until I can go on this. Still v. excited for it though!

So glad you posted this. Thank you! We just decided last night to take at way last minute trip in 3 weeks.
Taking 2 boys that just graduated from high school and this will be a great treat! Just booked July 27th.
Let the Magic Begin
