Key West Lighthouse...........

did you tour the Lighthouse? How did you get there? We were on the March 29, Mystery cruise that went to Key West on Thursday instead of Sunday. We took the Trolley Tour hoping to get off at the Lighthouse stop, the driver did not annouce it was the stop for the Lighthouse so we missed it (not enough time to go back). The Magic was docked at the Naval Base and we had to shuttle back and forth. Our stay in Key West was shorter than on Sundays. We are going back on the April 24 cruise and would like to see the Lighthouse.

We went last Fall. We just walked to it after we ate at Jimmy Buffets. Everyone knows where it is.So you shouldn't have any problem with directions. The walk wasn't too bad. But it was hot and humid, so it probably seemed worse than it was.
Next time I would def. do a trolley ride and get off there. That is if you can get back on. It's right across from the Hemmingway House. I would have just opted to do the trolley ride to cool me off and learn a bit about the place.
We just paid for the lighthouse. When you get there, you can do something else as well. There was a little house next to it to tour. We didn't have any interest in this.
The view was worth the trip!

We took a taxi to the lighthouse. I think it was around $10 or so for our family of 4. We paid to go in and up the lighthouse. The view is marvelous! I have a great picture of the kids at the top with the Magic in the background.

From the lighthouse we walked down to the Southernmost point -- long and hot for the kids. Took the picture and walked around looking for a cab. We ended up going into a little motel and asking them to call a cab for us -- about $10 back.

My kids were young (DD4 and DS8) and would have no interest in the other stuff along the trolley route. The taxis were fine, easy and fast.
