Just looking for your opinions on this. It sounds like fun and still gives us plenty of time in Key West. It will be myself, DH and DSs 15 and 14. One quick question-how many people are on the catamaran? We are trying to get away from the crowds.

Is this the Fury Catamaran? We did this once and enjoyed it. They take you about 7 miles out to sea and anchor off a reef for snorkeling. The snorkeling was pretty good, the weather warm. On the return trip, there's an open bar (they won't serve you alcohol -beer and wine- until you're done in the water. The crew was fun and friendly and they send a few of them in the water to help kids out, if need be.

The boat was pretty crowded, but not overly so, I didn't think. Once everyone's in the water, you can spread out, so it didn't seem crowded at all.

We took this excursion last year. It was pretty good. DW places it at the top of the list for all of the places we've snorkeled (St. Johns, Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay). We went out about 8 miles to the reef. We were in 10 to 20 feet of water. There were a lot of critters in and around the reef. We were the only boat there (on the other snorkeling excursions we have been one of many boats in the same general area).

The boat seemed safe, the equipment in good repair, the crew knowledgable and friendly and the snorkeling was very good. The day we did it we were caught in a pretty good downpour on the way out to the site. Even with everyone crowding in under cover, there was room for everyone. It's a pretty good sized catamaran and there were lots of people - but it didn't seem crowded except for the point when we were getting into the water for the snorkeling.

Over all Great Trip. If you are prone to motion sickness, take the max doseage allowed. I need to do this for any trip in a boat (but haven't needed the meds on the Magic).:boat:

Just giving this a quick bump to see if anyone else has tried this.
