Anyone rent any of the electric cars available in key west?
If so was it worth it. I've heard its a bit of a walk to the southern most point and with a 7 year old id rather ride. But other than that was their any value to it or is it better to just stay close to the port?

They seem expensive. You can get a real car for $30 a day in most cities, but they want $120 for a partial day for a little electric car. Although, the little electric cars are much better suited for Key West than a real car is.

I think the best way to get around is the trolley. It stops at all the most popular spots, and you can get off and stay as long as you want, and just hop on the next trolley when you want to go on.

We rented one. A 4 seater was 85.00 including tax and a 2 seater was 49.00 for I believe1/2 day (I may be wrong) It was great. I got a sunburn on 1/2 my face only, I looked ridiculous. We rented from Reef Mobile- 501 Greene St., the place is across the street from Sloppy Joe's bar. Yes, it is a very long walk to the southern most point. You can get a coupon for and extra free hour or two from any vendor renting any other product along the way. They have loads to give away. They will try and direct you to other products instead though, like telling you to rent a scooter instead or go on a tour instead. Once you have the electric car you can explore the entire area.

I saw more electric cars in Key West than scooters - since traffic has tripled since I was in Key West 3 months ago, I suggest the electric cars - they are easy to get around in and you can take more than 2 people in them - Greene Street is exalty one block south of Mallory Square - renting a car is cheaper, BUT finding a place to park is impossible - you can pay for parking but the miniumn is $10.00 and wtih that why rent a car - I was blessed that I happened on a parking place for most of the time, I ride round and round and round.
Anyhow good luck and hope you enjoy Key West.
Always

do you know if there flexible with the amount of time you want to rent. (i.e. Do I have to pay for a half a day even if I only end up using if for an hour )

Besides the Southern Most Point is there anything else thats really a far distance to walk with kids which would warrant using the electric car?

Shirley do you include any kinds of coupons in your packets for these?? I'm anxiously awaiting your packet as I was one of the many in your last batch.

We did, last September, and yes, it was definately worth it.

We started out with a 4 hour rental..around $90 I think...we finished in two hours, took it back...they only charged us for two hours..they said no problem. They were all concerned when we drove up..they thought something was wrong. They were great.

We drove to Bo's fish market, southern most point...hemingway's house..and a few other places before turning it in and just finishing up walking around the places that were closer to the dock.

ps..if you do get the cart..go to Bo's..it is the best fresh fish sandwich..and conch fritters. Yummy!

sounds great...thanks webray....where did you rent from?
