key to the world wristband?

has anyone else heard anything about the key to the world being a wristband other then a card???
i read something really cool about this wristband with a chip inside that would be used to get into ur room, pay for dining, be used as photopass, and fast pass. These wristbands look AWESOME ! and could be personalized for an extra fee.

I don't see the issue with them, what is the difference between those and the Cards that do the same thing. I think it is just going to be easer to put the wrist band then have to have a lanyard around my neck. If someone is going to steal your info, they can get your info already get from your keys to the world card. There are readers that can pull information just by walking past you. (I know scarry thought but the world is a scarry place)

This is not quite true. The current KTTW card does not, as far as I know, have an RFID chip. It cannot be read without being swiped.

That does not hold true for, say, credit cards with RFID or any future RFID-enabled cards Disney may offer instead of/alongside KTTW.

Also, those scanners that do can RFID card can't get the security code on the back of the card... and I believe your name is no longer one of the "signals" sent out by the RFID code (I could be wrong on this, but I seem to recall the first generation did, but the current ones do not).

FWIW, the scanners generally have to get pretty close, and if you have more than one RFID card on you it may not pick them up properly -- it'll get one jumbled signal with everything mixed up, not two signals of correct information... again, this is from memory so I may not have it 100 percent.

Finally, this whole thing is ridiculous. Everyone knows Disney is going with implantable chips done by an on-site Disney technician.

What about someone like me who won't be able to wear this. I'm not sure if it's a phobia but I can't where anything on my hands or wrist. Even a watch bothers me I feel like I can't breath.

Am I not allowed in the parks anymore?

This was all covered in a very long thread a couple of weeks ago. It covered everything from:

• No its not like a hospital band and can be taken off or not worn on the wrist to
  
• Security features of RFID chips to
  
• People who would refuse to wear then due to religious issues, something to do with the mark of the beast.

I'm trying to find that thread but the search function is fighting me.

Its was a lot of "what about this" kind of posts.

As I posted there was quite a few people like you who don't want to wear anything on their wrists or just thought it would be too hot for their kids and thought that instead of the finger scan they were going to attach it to them in a way that it would have to be destroyed to remove it. Like a GPS ankle bracelet.

By the looks of them they could be clipped onto anything, loop on ur paints, back pack, landyard, or just stick it in ur pocket like we do with the cards another concern i think would be little kids takin them off, playin with them, putting it down somewhere and its never to be seem again.

I love the idea ! Being able to not have to always worry about takin out, and dealing 5 cards would be LOVELY !! and the idea of photopass being conjoined with the key to the world weather it be card or wristband form would be convenient.

Not to mention being able to wear it and use it when u get home. Which is more then we can say about the cards. I dont know about you guys but when we get home our cards get thrown in a drawer never to leave. I'm not really big into jewelry but these look like really cool wristbands. And i know even my 12 year old son, along with my 2 daughters would love to come home from our family trip and rock those bands to school and show them off to all of their friends.

I wasn't able to find the other posts about these bands so i am sorry if any of this is a re-post .

Is there any idea when they will start using these or something like this?? i would think it would be tough to change over all the locks and doors to every single room, at every single resort, not to mention the fasspass's ect. But i think some of this tech might be already be put into place with the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.
What do you think??

I read the same article! I think the wrist bands sound fantastic. From what I gather, people can choose what information gets put on them or even opt out all together.

I thouht a cool feature of the wrist bands is the "next gen" meet and greet where the characters will know your kid's name and if hes been to wdw before. The character could greet you by saying "Hi Josh, its nice to see you again!" My kid would flip!! I know some people will find tis creepy but I think its important that this kind of information remains a choice. As long as Disney respects peoples choices and privacy this could be a really cool thing!

already do this. The wolfpack bands open your room, ticket to the waterpark, charge to your room (just like a key to the world card). I don't have anyone in my party who didn't want to wear it, so we didn't have a "what if" to contend with. I will say that at GWL they DO look like hospital bands (the main feature of the resort is a huge indoor waterpark, so bands must be water resistant). Though everyone was wearing them, so who cares if they aren't the most stylish things in the world (how many of us walk around in lanyards with cards in them and plastic and felt mouse ears when we are NOT on vacation?).
The bands were good for us. My kids didn't lose them as easily as cards. They worked the same (had to be scanned). I wish Disney would switch over, or offer a choice card/wristband.

Yup,
To have a better personalized experience, not mess around with the stupid cards anymore and better crowd management that allows me to ride more attractions in a day are all well worth it. The interactive games/quests are interesting too but not something I'm particularly interested in.
Also, you're blowing things out of proportion. The billion includes all the changes they've already made and all the new interactive queues that they are building or have built.
Frankly the queues are 25%-33% of the overall attraction experience for me. Can't wait to see all the new updates in WDW.
Not to mention they will also generate money for Disney as well, so sooner or later that billion spent is going to be earned back.
BTW, sorry you have a "wrist" phobia. (frankly I'm like that too, I cannot wear watches) However bracelets are round and can attach to many other objects like bags or strollers or neck lanyards, heck I wouldn't care if you stretched out your ear piercings in wore it as an earring. There should be plenty of options for you to choose from.

Half of the new queue money was wasted. Pooh came out great but HM us terrible.

1. I've been on two trips since the HM queue opened and it causes confusion. Every time people have no clue what to do.

2. HM in no way shape or form needed this. What a waste of money that could have been spent on a ride that needed it like BTM or PPF.

3. It hurst the attraction by having to much paranormal stuff before the ride. It used to flow you had Madam Leeotas grave stone. Then it was cranked up a notch with the portrait then even further with the stretching room. Now there is no flow and IMO it hurts the attraction. I used to think WDW had the superior HM but now hands down DL's is better.

I said half the money they spent on the queues not the whole project. The main problem is HM in no way needed this that's why it was a waste.

As far as the Tigger Bounce it is not missed. The queue is still very well done. I would have rather have had all that money go to the inside of HM.

Again, where's your evidence this is "half of the queue" money? I'm convinced you just made that up. How much money do they have to spend on queues? How much was spent on HM?

They've been slowly upgrading queues around the park, trying to learn what works and what does not. I see no problem with this approach.

Also, they did spend money inside HM -- they put in a great effect at the end. I'm not sure where else the ride needs money, it's in pretty good shape considering it was built before most of the park.

I don't know the exact amount there are two interactive Queues. I'm saying one is a waste.

Let me refraise it. Half of the the new Interactive Queues is a waste.
