Key to the world card

Lol don't judge me for asking a dumb question... But we haven't cruised before. DCL hasn't upgraded to magic bands yet? Does anyone know if this will change by August?

My fiancé and I are pin traders and I was going to get him the cruise lanyard in the shop parks app for Valentine's Day. If we need to carry a kttw key around I'll grab the zipper pouch too.
The kids clubs use them but they are not in use for passengers in general. I don't see that changing by August but ya never know. I'd plan on having a KTTW card.

One more thing to add. They only work for kids IN the kids club, so I doubt they would add them to other passengers without making major technological changes to the ship. I say that because our younger son went somewhere with his older brother and we could not find them. We were not worried but in trying to find them we stopped at the kids club and asked if they could locate the younger brother via his armband and they said unfortunately only in the kids club. But then again I do not know much about technology so maybe it would not be a huge deal to change or expand the entire system.

I, for one, wouldn't want Magic Bands to be used on DCL, and would request a KTTW card instead if they had them. Walking around a port with a brightly colored wristband with a Mickey head on it is a big flag for one thing. In addition, I typically leave my watch at home when I'm on a cruise. Last thing I want is another thing on my wrist. Magic Bands aren't exactly all that comfortable to wear.

lol we just got back from 9 nights WDW and the magicbands didn't bother me to wear all day at all like I thought they would. By the end of the trip I didn't even notice it was there. That being said I totally get what you're saying about wearing them in ports. Good call!

I'm in a similar situation to the OP but in my case my daughter is an adult. I'm treating my daughter and granddaughter to a Disney cruise in June. I was planning on putting my credit card on my own and my granddaughter's KttW accounts then giving my daughter a Disney Gift Card. That way she could enjoy premium snacks and drinks and maybe even a spa treatment or a souvenir on me but have her account linked to her own credit card in case she wanted splurge or do something big on her own dime. She is a devoted single mom (as was I raising her) and the idea is to give her the space and freedom to do her own thing while me and my granddaughter get our Mickey on!
