Does each member of your party get one of these? Also we are on the DDP so this is how each meal is tracked correct? Does the entire family use the same card? Since we are traveling with older children i was thinking this might be fun for them to be able to hold onto and be responsible for their own card but i wasnt sure if that is how it worked.

Yes, you all will recieve your own cards. It is very convienent when your kids are off on their own and can use it for the DDP. All the credits are loaded into each one and if your all part of one group it will be the same for each. Just remember that these can be used to charge with also and that if you don't want your kids to have this priviledge it can be turned off. A very important thing if they tend to misplace things! We buy them the lanyards so that they can have them handy when carrying them. Much easier IMO to keep track of instead of them being in a pocket. :)

Everyone has their own card. As you ar eon the DDP, thne your cards are linked to your entire package. The card is your room key and also your admission ticket with your park admission plan loaded on to it. It is also used to charge purchases to the room. The card must also be used to obtain fast passes and for EMH.
Having it replaced is time consuming and a pest so be sure whomever holds their own cards will not lose them. Also when riding together, it is much quicker and easier for one person to go to the fastpass machine and get fastpasses with all of the cards at once.

Does this come in the mail or do you get it at check-in??

We returned from our trip about 2 weeks ago and this is what we found. You can use one card for all the meals. In fact, the cashiers prefer this at all locations. They will give you a summary after each transaction which tells you what was used and how many meals/credits you have left. Another interesting fact we discovered was that if you have adults and children the only distinction is on the table service meal. At the counter service restaurants they did not track whether you used a child or an adult credit. I asked one cashier about this and she told me that it did not matter. Our daughter just was eligible for the child category so she was able to get a regular counter service meal when we ate. Some of the child selections where somewhat small so this was great news to us. I also agree with the lanyard suggestion. I bought one to keep all our cards in and it worked great. I tied it to my belt loop to avoid it accidently coming un done and kept it in my pocket like a pocketwatch. You need to make sure you keep your cards seperate from cell phones and cameras as this tends to erase the magnetic strip. This happened to me a couple of times until we purchased the lanyard. It was no problem getting the front desk to issue new cards. Hope this helps!

I guess I'll piggyback on this thread with my KTTW card question... ;)

I'm not using the DDP but plan to use the card to charge meals, snacks, purchases, etc. Do you get a receipt when you purchase counter service meals and snacks? I just want to know if I can keep track of my spending that way or if I'll have to be diligent and keep track of it myself. :coffee: Or I could just throw caution to the wind and spend, spend, spend without keeping track. :woohoo:

saquin...yes, you get a receipt when you charge it to your room card, just like a "real" credit card. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't still throw caution to the wind -- just don't look at those pesky little receipts! :rotfl2:

And you can stop by the front desk of your hotel and ask for a printout of all charges 'to date' in your stay at anytime.

I made a habit of checking this way every other morning during my stay for two reasons..

1. To know how much I had spent and..
2. To make sure there were no charges to my room that weren't mine.

Just once, I did actually find a mystery charge that under closer examination by the front desk staff, did not originate with any of my room keys. They promptly removed it without question.

Thanks sbakersub and CanadianGuy! (good idea about checking for mystery charges, too)
I guess I'll do the adult thing and be fiscally responsible by tallying those receipts.
Though throwing caution to the wind and pretending it's some sort of "magic" Disney World card that doesn't translate into real money sure seems like more fun! :cool1:

Agreed!:rotfl:

When we went, we were on the DDP and We also used the card as our "tickets" to get into all the parks...We also have found these to be very nice souviners from our stay.

If you plan to go to EMH, everyone aged three and older will have to have a room ID to stay in the park. They scan the card before they give you a wrist band at evening EMH and ask you to show the room ID before morning EMH. You can ask for no room charging for the little kids, and ask for it to be added for older kids that you trust. You will only be allowed to leave one credit card at the front desk, so anything charged to the room ID will be charged to that credit card - unless you have all the charges separated before they transfer them to the card. If you don't want other adults to charge to your credit card, they can always use their personal credit card or cash to make purchases. In that case, you ask that charging not be allowed on their room IDs.
