The overwhelming theme of the last few WDW restaurant reviews have been pretty negative and I think I know why. The problem is Kevin is going to these places without being on the Disney Dining Plan and therefore he is caring too much about the quality and portion size of the food for how much he is paying. If he would just sign up for the DDP then he wouldn't care as much and the reviews would be much more positive. Being on the plan keeps one from focusing on the value of service and quality of the food. Best example I can give is the old saying, "Any beer is good as long as it's free".

Maybe it's just me, but these are pretty important aspects of a meal/restaurant experience. Even if you have pre-paid.

Do I need to give my sarcasm detector a tune up?

I'm lost! is are you joking? or is it for real? there is no smileys or lols so i cant tell :confused3

I think/hope the OP is joking about being on the DDP.

Just got done listening to Kevin's Kouzinna review and then I canceled my reservation for there in December!!! :thumbsup2

Funny. Haha.

Don't people realize that the dining plan isn't free ... even when they say it's "free," you're paying for it.

DDP or no, the meal should be worth it. The DDP just pre-pays, and in some cases gives you a discount. Even Free Dining costs you, really, in your package price.

Nice! :rotfl:

I think the OP is serious.

It's Kevin's opinion, that's all. He's said it a thousand times.

When you live in Orlando & are not staying at a Disney resort, the Disney Dining plan is not an option. We all have the Disney Dining experience card which gives us 20% off of meals in many Disney Restaurants, however, they then tack on an 18% tip, so it pays for the tip. The thing is, if you are paying top dollar for a meal0as you do in most restaurants on property- you want to have something edible. Also, there is no excuse for bad service.
We keep hoping that things will get better.

I am certainley not going to eat a Kouzzinas after listening to Kevins review. Whenever he does a review I cant fail to agree with what he says. Especially the Whispering Canyon Review. :thumbsup2

As for the initail post, I am pretty certain that Lugnut33 was being sarcastic. I very much hope so :rotfl:

OK, I was being a bit sarcastic, but there is also a bucketfull of truth to what I wrote about Kevin being negative on the current state of Disney dining and how one is less likely to complain if they are on the DDP (especially the "free" version). Even paying upfront for the DDP makes one less likely to scrutinize the food because you're not actually pulling money out of your wallet/purse to pay for what you've been served.

Another example I can give is the review the podcast team gave of the Tree House Villas. In it, they kept mentioning the price of the Villa in comparison to what they were expecting for that sort of price. Well, I stayed in the THV on my DVC points and money per night was the least important thing in determining my new found love for the Tree House Villas.

It's kinda like the team's saying "everything tastes better in the Magic Kingdom." This is like "everything tastes better when it's free" (or at least perceived to be free).

And while I think these sentiments might be true for the "less experienced" Disney guest, I think that Kevin has the ability to separate these issues when doing his reviews. :thumbsup2

Using the DDP or not, I want good food and good value. While I don't always agree with Kevin's reviews, I do listen to what he has to say and if I don't like what I hear, I will stay away. I read the story on this place and wasn't impressed then, now that Kevin has reviewed it, I won't be going there. It just doesn't seem like a place I would enjoy. Like Kevin has said before, it's his opinion, nothing more. If he didn't like it, then he should say so. It doesn't mean that someone else won't have a different opinion. If you don't like what he has to say, then try it for yourself and then you can make a judgement based on your own experience.

But he'd be happier if he didn't separate these issues.

Sounds like the place has gotten worse then when we were there opening week. I am Greek and thought it was my tastebuds being used to my moms cooking. The only thing I liked was the "lasagna" or Pastitio and now it sounds like they have messed it up. It is not supposed to be sweet. Eeeewww.

Our portions were also small as I stated in my review. Except the lasgana that was huge.

What did they do to the honey balls. They are supposed to be with honey nuts and cinnamon. Another change. Weird.

Still listening to hear if their service was as weird as ours.

My husband said he had no desire to return because I cooked way better. *swoon*
