If you will be using a credit card for and on your cruise, be sure to call your credit card company and alert them about a month before you leave that you are cruising out of the country. They will probably/should ask you for your travel dates, countries you are visiting, etc.

If you don't you may run into problems (fraud protection, etc) while on the trip.

This is an excellent tip.

This is also good advice if you plan to travel outside of the US and plan to use your CC/debit cards for purchases in other countries/foreign
ports-of-call.

That's right. My CC company also said that once I contact them, if I run into trouble, there is collect International phone number on the back of my card to contact them. It's true. I checked and there it was. Never noticed it before.

And having been a victim of debit card fraud, I definitely would NOT use my debit. A cc gives you better protection and means of financial recovery.

Outstanding tip. Thanks!

I've added it to my pre-cruise checklist. :thumbsup2

The credit card companies do like you to do that and you will have fewer headaches if you do. However, (and here it is where I am going off on a rant) it is none of the credit card companies business where I go!!!! I hate that. I have had my card declined for no reason except for the fact that I was out of the country !!!!! I know they say it's for fraud protection; however, they shouldn't be denying my purchases just because they "think" there "might" be a problem. And in my case, it's not like I don't have charges every week from different states and different countries because of my job, yet still they give me a hard time.

Okay, I'm off my soap box now.

Now if I can just figure out how to not go over my limit every time I go on a cruise.:lmao:

Thank you for that very helpful tip. We are planning a trip this year and I'll put it on my list for us to remember. :thumbsup2

Wow, that IS a great tip! I never even thought of that problem. Thanks!
