"Kevin is smart" - but is two weeks of taunting really worth it?

Honest truth: I was walking through the mall two days ago with my sister and I notice the Yankee Candle store up ahead. (Yep, there's a Yankee store in our mall) I randomly burst out laughing and she's looking at me like I'm absolutely crazy.

When she asked what was so funny I told her 'Yankee Candle Steak!' Needless to say that didn't clear up very much.

Oh yeah, I was driving my car and laughing out loud. I haven't brought myself to looking at the pictures yet. I'm just grateful that the review wasn't for a restaurant I booked for our Food and Wine trip!

Now that I have FINALLY stopped laughing, I can type!! I SO hope SOMEONE in Shutters management (or, more accurately, NON-management!) hears this... Having worked in F&B for years I have seen a lot of stuff, but this pretty much tops it all! :rotfl:

I thought I was going to fall out of my chair when the waiter said "I can't believe they double sat me" and walked off... :lmao:

I finally got to listen to the review today at work, and I laughed so hard that I was crying. That made it hard to see the pictures - especially the CSI autopsy photo. :lmao: Thank you for desperately needed hysterical laughter on a Monday! So sorry that you had to endure the dining experience to bring it to us!

Kevin- you did it again. I always laugh when I listen to your reviews. This might have been the funniest yet. Even the good reviews have some twist of your humor added.

Thanks so much!

Catching up... am looking forward to the review and some good laughs.

I was reading the restaurant review board tonight. Just a few weeks ago someone posted that they really enjoyed their meal at Shutters.

This all goes to show that, yes, Kevin is smart and Kevin is right. His review is based on his visit. Other people have different reactions to different meals.

I can relate with Kevins review of Shutters. I ate there in December of 2004 and things were exactly the same then. They have improved nothing.

Have you looked at the photos?

The picture of the autopsy steak is disgusting - I could not imagine trying to eat it...

If you upgrade to iPhone 4, can we expect to see video of your meals? The photos were unbelievable but a video might have won you an emmy for best horror special. A video of flora, fauna and merriweather pounding the box would have been hysterical.

I've listened to the segment three times and still can't stop laughing. Like others have said, thank you (and John) for putting yourselves through this for us.

Just listened to the Shutters review today.

Once I heard it was Shutters, I knew it was not going to be good. Well at least not good food wise, but very entertaining review wise. ;)

It has been years since my visit to Shutters and it was not good then. Sounds like it has gone downhill. I love CBR but would much rather eat in the food court.

I remember before the food court was redone, there was a different restaurant and bar at CBR that was so much better. I always had to get a pina colada at the bar. Wish they would bring that restaurant back.

Shutters is aptly named as anyone who has eaten there tends to shudder at the memory.

I don't know why, but I enjoyed the part where they added their plates to the Dirty Plate Storage on the table next to them. :)

After several meals in the food court, we attempted to give Shutters a try and were told by the person who finally showed up at the podium that there would be a 30 minute wait for a table. There was nobody else at the podium, so that struck me as odd. But we didn't want to wait that long, anyway, and gave up immediately.

Guess we were spared!

I also liked the, "I can't believe they double sat me." Even if you don't think of it as part of your job to keep your customers happy...and even if you don't think of being nice to improve your tip (which...duh!)...why do they think that people who are sitting down to have dinner want to hear their problems? I just don't know.

Just listened to the show and then saw the pictures. OMG please tell me you didnt eat the grey meat. It looks like food poisoning on a plate. That steak is revolting. Kevin you were much nicer than I would have been in a reivew. Eeewwww.
