I once drank an entire bottle of ketchup (when I was a child), so obviously I love it.
But, I agree with the OP.
It belongs on hamburgers, meatloaf, hot dogs, cold cuts, french fries and country potatoes. Maybe a couple other things I can't think of right now.
But...
It does not go on roasts, steak, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, eggs, etc.
When I was a child, I did mix tarter sauce and ketchup to eat my fish. But as I don't eat fish now, I no longer do this.
does not belong on hot dogs if you are older than 4 years old.
Blech. I can't eat a hot dog without it. Unless it has chili sauce on it. Otherwise, forget it.
While I don't normally get ketchup out for roast, it makes sense. Steak too. I simply don't like meat unless it has some sort of sauce to dip it in to make it taste better. Once I have a sauce, I actually enjoy it.
That's what A1 and Worcestshire sauce is for. Actually, on a good steak, just give me a little melted butter and I'm all good.
Ketchup and potato chips Mmmmmmm......
I prefer a good BBQ sauce (not some dressed up ketchup) instead of ketchup with my chips. Better than store bought BBQ chips.
I've been waitng for someone to come on and mention ketchup on baked beans! This was the only way that my brother would eat them growing up and now his three boys do the same! (I think it is icky, but I generally dislike ketchup anyhow.)........................P
Well, you put it in baked beans before you bake them. But I also add onions and brown sugar to my bake beans.
