OK - ketchup on mac n cheese - nasty. But on eggs - YUM On a bad piece of steak that needs all the help it can get - YUM.
We had my SILs boyfriend over my parents house one night. My parents served a very nice roast which he insisted on having ketchup on. Personally, I thought that was rude - you put it on a nasty piece of meat, not a really good one, but whatever tickles your pickle I guess.
I will never make my kids eat this. It was the nastiest, grossest meal us kids had to eat 4 times a year growing up. And my mom always served pea with it. Double UCK!!!!!!!!
Ketchup does not belong on potato chips, spaghetti, noodles, mashed potato, or corn. It also does not need to be in a big pile on your plate so you can dunk your hamburger in it. All things that DD does that drive me bonkers! The corn looks particularly nasty.
Ketchup does go on mac and cheese. And pot roast, steak, tacos, and all soups.
I'm not including the obvious ones which are hamburgers, hot dogs, meatloafs, eggs, french fries, fried potatoes, tater tots, hash browns.
Honestly I'm not a huge fan of ketchup but it works well to mask the taste of things I do not like. I do not think I could eat a roast or steak without something to hide the flavor.
I think ketchup can go on just about anything if that's what you want. I think it's silly to say that it's rude to put it on something too. Just because you think something is wonderful and doesn't need it, does not mean that other people agree. I'm a picky eater and I'd just as soon not eat anything than to eat something I don't like. LOL
