How to get to Seaworld in one easy lesson by Kes.

When on the 536 bear left toward International Drive. Do not ignore your wifey and drive straight on onto the Florida Greenway. This way will add lots of time, cost an extra $1 in tolls, and cause you untold amounts of embarrassment at the toll station when the toll man agrees your wife was right.

This turned out to be day of embarrassing issues as the virgin information video on our way out had told us to go to information desk on arrival show our boarding passes, and claim a free gift. The first guy we asked thought we wanted to collect our dry cleaning. . In the end we were given a few Shamu keyrings which I really didn’t want. I just wish I had never bothered asking…I cannot believe we were the only ones to ever fall into this situation and reckon we must have gone to completely the wrong place but there you go….

We picked up our free second day return tickets in case we should need them, although a second day wasn’t planned. The schedule plan had a separate list of show times so we picked the show times we wanted to make and then sorted the other attractions around them.

The park as a whole seemed to have much more room to walk about. It only seemed busy at stadium entrances and exits at the end of shows and the free beer tent! In that respect it was great although everything seemed a bit more expensive and the food wasn’t as good. Mind you, this is all counter stuff; I suppose none of the parks have wonderful cuisine at counters.

We saw Pets Ahoy and Shamu first.

We followed that with Wild Artic taking the helicopter which was fine for Tom but Kate didn’t like it. That put her off the actual exhibit for a while which was superb so we spent some time there while she came around to then enjoy the polar bears, beluga whales and walrus.

After a pretty yukky bite to eat we watched the other shows and then moved onto the Penguin and Puffin encounter. I just love Penguins; really funny creatures. Puffins I have seen before on Lundy Island (just of the coast of my home town) but it was nice to show the children.

We then went to the tropical reef. I hadn’t realised just how wonderful our local aquarium is (Plymouths National Marine Aquarium). We had been there twice last season and so although the children enjoyed it they weren’t as fascinated as they might have been.

Dolphin Cove was our next stop and then the turtles and stingrays. Oh and then we had to buy a cuddy Shamu and cuddly cub tiger . Cuddly cub tiger? I couldn't see the link. Apparantly it was obvious 'Mum, where are we going one day?'...'Kenya?' ' No, Mum, Animal Kingdom. Now we won't have to buy a cuddly toy there'......Kids!

I did enjoy Seaworld and do hope that the amount they plough back into keeping animals in the wild is as much as they publicise. I’m not a lover of caged animals but I do also feel that without parks such as this there is no awareness, and awareness is essential to retain interest and support of animals in the wild. I did, though, feel some of the living areas seemed fairly small. OK. Ethical rant over.

When we got back to the hotel time was moving on so we went for a swim and then went to Publix for a shop for some tea and an early night as tomorrow was Tommys big day…Chef Mickeys and Apricot! (Toms hearing isn't perfect)

Dont worry from what I have read SW puts a lot of effort into looking after the animals and also rescuing animals in distress not just the exotic ones u should have tried sharks underwater grill for a good meal although i thought smoky creek was pretty good for baby back ribs:jester:by the way small world we where there same day:wave2:
