Kerry supporters, a thought

I can understand your outrage. After all, begging for money to re-elect Bush is just as important as providing information as to where people can donate money to those who were left homeless or whose loved ones were killed.

Can you possibly see that one post was done for political purposes and one was done out of concern for people who are devastated?

Compassionate conservatism at it's finest.....

Great post about DOING SOMETHING!!!

I went to a local MEET-UP in JUNE cause we kept wondering, "Isn't anyone DOING ANYTHING???"

They expected 20 at the meeting and over 100 showed up!

Tons of committees now canvassing, phone calling, letter writing, and doing voter reg drives. Being ACTIVE convinces us how much difference EVERY ONE of us can make! One poll shows Kerry now with a 20-point lead!

So call your state KERRY headquarters or go to a MEET-UP or check your local paper for press releases about various activities...there's something for EVERYONE to do. Start by going to Kerry's website...loaded with info!

Ain't DEMOCRACY great????

For those Kerry supporters who may wonder how the "other side" handles their rallies, here's a interesting report on getting tickets to a Bush rally...

I've shortened it up a bit as it's a little lengthy, but I think you'll get the idea....

This morning tickets were available free of charge at a local business. I got in line at about 7am to obtain one... it was a long line.

After waiting for 1 hour I finally arrive inside and hand this Republican lady my ID so I can get my ticket. She starts taking down my info and then asks me if I would like to sign up as a member of the Republican party.

I politely decline. So she asks me why not. I thought about lying but knew I would feel bad about myself if I did so I told her the real reason, I was already a member of the Democratic party. No biggy I thought... she would just leave me alone.

She says ok and returns to taking my info. Then this big lady comes from behind her and takes my ID out of her hands and tells me I can not get a ticket. I ask her why. She informs me because I am a registered Democrat.

It looks like the Republicans aren't very interested in converting anyone.....

Did you mean to say restrictions instead of ban?

"Since 1996, Congress has voted each year to ban federal funding for research that harms human embryos. So the Clinton administration did not fund embryonic stem-cell research, and early on, President Bush vowed not to as well. But on August 9, 2001, the president surprised many by announcing that federally funded research could go forward under certain circumstances."

The entire article is worth a read, IMO.

The election is November 2nd

I'm sure that was just a typo, but I don't want people of any party misinformed as to when the election is.
LOLOLOL! Yes! Send them out on the 3rd!

You know, there are several DISers who have taken to calling President Bush "shrub". That sort of immaturity doesn't really add anything to the Kerry campaign.

Run your campaign, get Kerry's message (once he decides what it is) out there, and if you do a good job, your candidate will win.

Many of us are sick of all the negativity and mud-slinging form both sides. If Senator Kerry is the great hope for the future, as many believe he is, then perhaps the campaign would be better served by getting some concrete statements out there regarding what he believes in and how he's run the country.

I've heard a lot of rhetoric form both sides, but not a lot fo real information.

I don't base voting decisions on rhetoric, who has the nicer wife, who is better looking, or what party the candidate is affiliated with. I base voting decisions on the candidates' stances on specific issues.

Actually, if someone who is a Kerry supporter could get me informationa bout his voting record in the Senate(and not form his camp...a website which gives the facts without the associated campaign rhetoric), and information about his service in Vietnam, since he has made that a hot-button campaign issue(again, a website that gives just facts, not campaign rhetoric or the facts as the Senator wants us to know them), I'd appreciate it.

Don't know why the triple post. I tried to edit to request info and that's what happened.
Sorry!

Outraged???? Where in my post did I show any outrage? I think you need to remove the blinders of your eyes. Let's not forget what thread you posted this reply on.  Is it that bad that, with less than 2 1/2 months before the election, people are just now getting out to 'Flapjack Kerry'. Where were you months ago?????

I'm all for assiting those in need --- as a matter of fact the Red Cross and FEMA helped us when our house was destroyed in 2 hurricanes. I was just pointing out to Samsara that there was another thread that he might want to report, since he seems to be the 'Community Board Police.'

As for begging, I don't think the poster said anything about begging, they just provided a link. However, the OP of this thread seemed to be begging everyone to join her quest to assist the campaign of 'Flapjack Kerry.'

BTW -- When you chat with Samsara, ask him where my apology is. Democrats do know how to apologize, don't they?

Try this site, if you want his stand on issues. However, Kerry's supporters will discount the site because it's an anti Kerry site. However, it does reference the congressional records for the issues that were voted.

Here's Shortbun's response to me in a PM. She admits she put Nov. 3rd in on purpose.

You know, of course, that my November 3rd
was NOT a type. Why play coy? I'm off to a rally for
Kerry so I won't be posting again tonight. I too have
a picture of GWB and Laura. It has a big zero with a slash
through it and it's on my mantle.

Let me state again that I want EVERYONE to vote on November 2nd - not just my side. I also would never choose to hang an opponent's picture in the way she mentioned. My position is all about who I am FOR not who I am against. I respect the right of others not to agree with me. I have learned that there are many who do not want to offer me the same respect in return.

Try a Google-search for 'Miserable Failure'

This is what I found on snopes:

Claim: A 'Google bombing' effort has tied the phrase 'miserable failure' to President Bush's biography in the Google search engine.

Status: True.

Example: [Collected on the Internet, 2003]

Origins: A
popular maxim tells us that "anything man can do, man can undo." A corollary to that concept might be "anything man can do, others can exploit for fun and profit."

Ever since search engines first appeared on the World Wide Web, netizens have been finding ways to tie searches on particular words or phrases to web sites of their choosing, generally out of a profit motive. (Better results bring more traffic to a site, increasing advertising revenue and/or sales.) Search engine companies, meanwhile, have been busily at work fine-tuning their algorithms to eliminate rank-enhancing tricks and ensure their results more accurately reflect the relevance and popularity of indexed web sites.

The "fun" factor has come into play, too, as some people have manipulated search engine results either for the sheer humor of it or to make political statements — for example, for several months now a spoof 404 page (i.e., a "page not found" error page) has been the top-ranked page in Google when users search on the phrase "weapons of mass destruction." And now, since early December 2003, the top site returned by a Google search on the phrase "miserable failure" has been the biography of President George W. Bush from the White House web site.

How did this come about, especially since the phrase "miserable failure" appears nowhere in the President's biography? It was the result of a "Google bombing" project organized by George Johnston back at the end of October 2003, in which he used his blog to urge others to include links connecting the phrase "miserable failure" (a term used prominently by Democratic hopeful Dick Gephardt) with the President's biography in their own web sites and blogs:

Let's get everyone to link to http://www.whitehouse.gov/president/gwbbio.html with the words "Miserable Failure." Our goal is to make Shrubya the top google pick.

It's fun, it's easy just Miserable Failure in your favorite web page will look like Miserable Failure

According to Mr. Johnston's progress report, by the last week of November 2003 the Bush biography was the #2 result on Google for "miserable failure," and — after more and more netizens implemented the same link on their sites and urged others to do the same — it reached the top spot soon afterward. (A #1 ranking at Google brings the added bonus of returning the targeted site when users select the search engine's "I'm Feeling Lucky" button.)

According to the New York Times, Google hasn't taken umbrage at the prank and (presumably) isn't taking steps to counteract it:

Craig Silverstein, Google's director for technology, says the company sees nothing wrong with the public using its search engine this way. No user is hurt, he said, because there is no clearly legitimate site for "miserable failure" being pushed aside.

Moreover, he said, Google's results were taking stock of the range of opinions that are expressed online. "We just reflect the opinion on the Web,'' he said, "for better or worse."

Well, it seems to me that neither Samara's parents and your parents taught you proper manners.

You're just too easy!

Disney Doll, in regards to your three previous posts (lol, I've done the triple posting myself sooo many times!), I just want to mention that I've brought up the lack of respect shown to President Bush and basically was told tough and then it was laughed at by one of the mods. I wouldn't expect any changes but probably just more disrespect. I can't imagine that when these same people go out in the real world and offer this type of venom to potential voters it will do anything different than what I already pointed out - it turns people off to what otherwise be a valid political argument.

Here's the link to the post I made and the replies:
