John, what is the color of the sky in your universe. You are wrong again. You evidently like being wrongCharade said:Are you living in some alternate universe? Bush went on record today stating that Rummy will be with bush through the end of his administration. Boehner had no choice but to insult our troops in order to defend Rumsfeld.A statement also came from the office of House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) which said that "John Boehner's comments defending Donald Rumsfeld and, by implication, laying the blame for our failures in Iraq on the military just shows how out of touch he is with the American people and the situation on the ground in Iraq."
"The responsibility for the gross miscalculations and incompetence in the war in Iraq lies with the Secretary of Defense and ultimately with the Commander in Chief," the statement continued. "Our troops have performed brilliantly, with honor and courage. Any suggestion otherwise is outrageous."

Do you think this will be the end of it or will they pick this apart and say it is not a true apology.

The fact that bush and Rove are using their same old slime and divide tricks. If you want to know why the country is so divided and partisan, just look at these smear tactics. In Mr. Bushs world, there are only two kinds of Americans: those who are against terrorism, and those who somehow are all right with it. Some Americans want to win in Iraq and some dont. There are Americans who support the troops and Americans who dont support the troops. And at the root of it all is the hideously damaging fantasy that there is a gulf between Americans who love their country and those who question his leadership.
Mr. Bush has been pushing these divisive themes all over the nation, offering up the ludicrous notion the other day that if Democrats manage to control even one house of Congress, America will lose and the terrorists will win. But he hit a particularly creepy low when he decided to distort a lame joke lamely delivered by Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts. Mr. Kerry warned college students that the punishment for not learning your lessons was to get stuck in Iraq. In context, it was obviously an attempt to disparage Mr. Bushs intelligence. Thats impolitic and impolite, but its not as bad as Mr. Bushs response. Knowing full well what Mr. Kerry meant, the president and his team cried out that the senator was disparaging the troops. It was a depressing replay of the way the Bush campaign Swift-boated Americans in 2004 into believing that Mr. Kerry, who went to war, was a coward and Mr. Bush, who stayed home, was a hero.
Its not the least bit surprising or objectionable that Mr. Bush would hit the trail hard at this point, trying to salvage his partys control of Congress and, by extension, his last two years in office. And were not naïve enough to believe that either party has been running a positive campaign that focuses on the issues.
But when candidates for lower office make their opponents out to be friends of Osama bin Laden, or try to turn a minor gaffe into a near felony, thats just depressing. When the president of the United States gleefully bathes in the muck to divide Americans into those who love their country and those who dont, it is destructive to the fabric of the nation he is supposed to be leading.
This is hardly the first time that Mr. Bush has played the politics of fear, anger and division; if hes ever missed a chance to wave the bloody flag of 9/11, we cant think of when. But Mr. Bushs latest outbursts go way beyond that. They leave us wondering whether this president will ever be willing or able to make room for bipartisanship, compromise and statesmanship in the two years he has left in office.

and if you actually paid attention instead of just picking apart things you don't like about my posts, i said that i do like the military, i just don't like what they're doing in Iraq. pay attention.

I didn't get it in the 60's- but I sure get it now. I really wish both sides would take the "bulldog" out of their arguments and try to be respectful in what they post. A little respect goes a long way.
CapeCodTenor said:Just so I get this out, I haven't read all the responses from this, or the other John Kerry thread, but from what I read, I've noticed something. The left is doing with the John Kerry comment that it so often accuses the right, spinning, and in some cases turning this around and blaming someone else...namely President Bush. At least that's what I've noticed, and that's just my opinion.
"I think it's important to note that nobody hates the troops more than decorated war hero John Kerry. We're all very, very lucky that we have draft-dodgers like George Bush and Dick Cheney to point that out to us."

So, you are saying he is lying when he says that what he said was not what he really meant? And that you agree that our soldiers end up in stuck Iraq because they didn't pay attention in school? When I say mispoke, I mean he probably said what he meant and shouldn't have. It was insensitive, I guess, but I agree with him.
