Kentuckians - I have a serious question...

While traveling to Virginia via Kentucky this past weekend with my dad we noticed something EXTREMELY strange with the trees. Once we got out of Lexington and until we got into West Virginia we noticed that alot of the trees had branches that were broken off or some trees were split in half and other trees were down completely. The evergreens appeared to be twisted (the long thin ones) and like were tried to be knocked down but it didn't happen. Some of the trees that had branches that were broken off sometimes were only one branch near the top of the tree.

What happened??? My dad and I kept seeing them getting worse and worse as we went east and then it got better as we got closer to Ashland.

I'm not in KY, but my inlaws are in Lexington. There was a HUGE ice storm this winter that laid down up to 2 solid inches of ice on everything. This caused horrible damage to trees and structures everywhere. Power was out in large areas for quite sometime.

From Versailes to Southern Lexington is where the Ice Storm hit, tree's are broke from I-64 on North-west

WOW...I can't believe the ice did THAT much damage. I was for sure it had to have been a wind storm or something. WOW...well thanks for answering my question. It was amazing.

I never noticed any damage up north....or even down I-75...

We didn't notice it until we got to Lexington - then it was amazing!

I have relatives in Versailles & Lawrenceburg both close to Lexington and some of them were without electricity for a week after the storm. I imagine it did lots of damage, they mentioned lots of trees being down.
