This weekend i saw kenny rogers in concert it was a good show!is there anymore kenny fans?

I am actually going to see him next month in Tunica...I grew up listening to him with my grandmother and mother. I wore out my little 45 of "Islands in the Stream" when he and Dolly put it out, and I actually thought the words were "You picked a fine time to leave, me Lucille, FOUR HUNDRED children and a crop in the field" until I was at least 15 years old.

It's funny. I grew up in the south, and I have come to HATE most country music and the image of the redneck, tobacco chewing, Nascar watching, big haired, K-Mart going crowd that most people associate with it, but my husband and I both LOVE Kenny Rogers. It doesn't quite fit in with the rest of our high energy electronica/dance musical tastes...but we don't care..

Oh man, I thought it was 400 hundred too for the longest time. Then after I found out what it really was, we still sang it "400".
My mom was a "modern" country fan. My dad was very much "old" country.

LOL, when we used to go camping, there used to be a live band every weekend. As revenge, when we got back to the tiny trailer to sleep, my dad would put on the Grand Ole Opry and we'd have to listen to that as we fell asleep.

Oh sure! Used to love Kenny. Saw a concert probably 15+ years ago with my parents and my then-dh.

And, I'm not a die-hard country fan either. Pop country mostly.

I enjoyed it. I was close enough that I could see the buttons on his shirt.

Kenny Rocks!!

I saw him back in 1996 when he came to my little home town and did a one of show at the mission winery estate. Every year they have some older well known person group perform.

It was a grea concert ( it was the kind of concert event at he winery where you take your blanket and picnic dinner),

My cousin went to also LOVES billy idol and looks like him with her hair and tattoo of him and she was excited to be seeing kenny she was getting some funny looks dressed in her black jeans and leather jacket singing im going to see kenny.

ohh the shame of it all is coming back now, just reading the islands in the stream song, i remember singing that song at primary school.
I also sung it as a duet with a radio announcer guy to win a prize when i was a teen.

MIL, SIL & I attended a Kenny Rogers concert a few summers back on Cape Cod

He was at Kansas City's 150 celebration and was the best act there. He still has "it". That was a weird evening. Little RIchard was there and needed help off the stage and Walter Cronkite was there and you couldn't hear what he said, but the fireworks were great and we got to go to the 50 yard line to watch them at Arrowhead stadium, and heck yeah I stole some grass from the field! Go Cheifs!!!!!! If that is agianst the law I am just joking!

I like him because "Lady" is "our song" as it came out during my senior year, 1980-81, just before I met DH, and was the first song at our reception!
