We are planning on traveling to WDW the last week of August this summer. Our pup will still be quite young - 7 months - and we may not have a dogsitter here at home. So the alternate plan is to drive down - with Molly - and check her into the kennel at FW. We'll be staying at WL so we'll be able to come by everyday to check on her, take her for a walk etc.
What is the care there like? Any thoughts?

I'm sure that some folks will come along shortly to answer you directly, but I wanted to let you know that there have been numerous threads in the past that address this topic. Just use the Search this Forum option on the main camping page and search for "Kennel". Here is one of the more recent ones with a lot of answers. I haven't used the kennels myself, so this is the best I can do.

Welcome to the camping boards!
:santa:

Thanks! I had tried the search a couple of times today and it wasn't working for me!! Glad you found a thread - I knew there had to be at least one out there!

We have used the kennels at the Fort a few times for our two pups- once they were there for an entire week. The staff is great, rates are very reasonable and when I was there for visits found the facilities to be kept very clean. They included 2 feedings per day, let them out for play time and walked them- they even washed my Huggy Bear (a newfoundland puppy) down when she had an accident! The only complaint I have about the kennels is that they are just crate areas- not indoor outdoor runs, but they do let them out for play time and we go whenever we are just at the Fort and take them out to the dog park and stuff- so its ok. We have never had any problems or issus with them at all- though I would suggest reservations since they do then to book up :thumbsup2

No Kennals where you live ??

Just wanted to keep our options open. At this point we will either find a sitter that we can leave her with in the sitter's home or bring her with us to a kennel close by so we can visit with her, walk her etc. throughout the week. Having not even looked in the kennels before I wondered how clean they were and what the staff were like - I'm hesitate to take her with us only to take one look and think :sad2:

We always put our beagle there when we go to WDW (a few times a year). We love it & the staff is great. It's clean & the kennels are large enough for our dog to walk around in.

Our first trip there last May we put both our dogs in for 3 days as we visited the parks. It was nice in a way not having to come back during the day to let them out. It also was bad that we didn't come back during the day and rest. I think it is a good alternative and you get a nice little report card at the end of the stay. Mine commented on how well they went potty outside and how talkative they were. Oops. That does not sound good. Anyway our next trip we left them in the RV and in 3 weeks we will be back for a 7 day stay. They will stay in the RV which will force DH and me to come back early afternoon for a rest and some pool time. Works well for all of us.

Hi! The kennels at WDW are run by a company called Best Friends Pet Care. They're national and have places all over the country. The people who run the places at WDW are really nice, and they love dogs. My TTs have been very happy there, and I can even visit them during the day (I call to check up on them, too);)

We brought our pup to WDW in late March/early April. He was almost 5 months at the time. We stayed in the campground so we only kenneled him during the day while we were at the aprks. We were pleased with the kennels. He stayed at the Ft. Wilderness kennel for 3 days and at the Epcot kennel for one. The staff at both were very pleasant and the care seemed very good. The kennels were very clean, and the cage where our little guy was kept was plenty big for him. They even had the food we feed at home (Purina Pro Plan), so we didn't need to bring his food. He was happy when we picked him up and he ran right in when we dropped him off. At FW, they knew him by name when we walked in after the first day and his tail was wagging like crazy when the woman came to take him back. I guess it doesn't hurt to be an adorable 6 lb. puppy when you're going to the kennel, either.
