I am not sure what forum is best to post this but I am sure it will be moved if it is in the wrong place.

Does anyone know of a reputable off-site kennel near WDW? We just lost our resident "petsitter" and desparately need a good place to have our 3 dogs for a week while we are at WDW. I do not want to leave them in the Epcot kennel for that extended period of time - they need to have a run, not just a crate.

Any information would be helpful....Thanks!! :cool1: ;)

Where are you located at?

Also,

In hte past I have let my dog at the WDW kennels by hte transportation and ticket center, it was nice because although he was in a "crate" I was ble to spend tike each day visiting and taking him out right around the building for some exercise and playtime. He is from the humane society and while kennels are typically traumatizing (I try to arrange a petsitter when out of town) the contact made it more tolerable for him,. I tried to stop by twice per day and see him so he knew I didn't forget him.....

if you live in S. Florida anywhere near me I could possiblty help you out.....

get a new pet sitter

here is a site to find a kennel - remember WDW is in Lake Buena Vista, Orlando and Kissimmee are close

www.abka.com

I would go with FW - they have lots of room for YOU to walk your dog - they have those runners - but generally they put animals there that can't prove they have had all their shots. These are outside 24/7.

Cmandrews13 - I am in Jacksonville, FL... We have had our pet sitter for 3 years so I am not overly excited about placing my poor guys in a kennel - I know what you mean about the "contact",etc... We have used the Epcot kennel before but only for a one or two night stay...I just hate them leaving them in the crates for a week (even though we would be available to walk them each day)...

SpiceyCat - Thanks for the advise to "get a new pet sitter" :confused3 :confused3
That is what we are trying to do. The kennel is our backup plan and I thought people on these boards might be kind enough to offer good suggestions...

If I were you I would check with their vet and see if they could recommend a kennel. Some vets will kennel themselves.

Is there only one kennel at wdw or are there ones by each park?
There are kennels at each park, plus an additional one at Ft. Wilderness. The MK kennels are at the TTC.

At the Epcot kennel, there are also outdoor kennels - they are in the shade and they are a nice run. When you check in ask for one. They are huge and they have fans over them.

For the person that asked.........there is a kennel at each park. But only the Epcot kennel offers dog walks for $2.50 each.
