Kennedy Space Center during a launch?

Yes rocket launches are dependent on the weather just like the shuttles. I got to see the last shuttle launch and it was awesome.

Can some one PLEASE tell me what is happening on June 19th. I was looking at the KSC website and I can't find a launch occurring on the 19th. I just see JUly 1st. We will be there on the 19th and would like to make arrangments to see it.

I would go for a shuttle launch and watch it from Titusville. It was amazing, we saw a very early (it was dark) launch and it was like nothing I could have imagined. The roar really does take your breath away. The first time or two was scrubbed so we got a hotel room and spent the night hoping it would be a go. It wasnt a big deal as we had wanted to be at Daytona beach for the rest of the week.

You can see the shuttle launch from Orlando. It isn't as dramatic but you can still see it. We were in Orlando and then going to the Space Coast during a launch window and couldn't book a hotel for anything, even months in advance, until the scrubbed the launch and then we got a great deal on our room.

The first time I was in Orlando, they did a night launch and we watched it from our hotel room. I had been out to Kennedy Space Center the day before the launch and about the only thing they do different is that you can't take the tour bus out to the launch site like you can when the shuttle is not on the launch pad. I have great photos of the shuttle on the launch pad from that trip.

Go to www.kennedyspacecenter.com - click on Launch Info (on left side of screen). When page loads, click the button "launch schedule" & you'll see all upcoming activity including the 6/19 rocket launch (from the air force base).

KSC will stay open later that day to accommodate the launch window (5:33 p.m. till 9:00? - can't remember). Your admission to KSC will enable you to get a gander @ the launch (no special tix required).

I've been advised that you could also try to view from BeeLine where it crosses the Indian or Banana rivers or Jetty Park area. Think we might just drive over in the afternoon if the launch is still "on".:wizard: I'd prefer a shuttle launch but, will happily settle for rocket launch.
