Wednesday, August 11 Boston to Orlando!
The alarm went off at 4:45am and I sprang out of bed, because naturally I had already been up since 3:30am watching the clock thinking of all the fun we would be having at Disney!! I was showered and dressed by 5am and trying, unsuccessfully, to wake JD up. We were ready by 5:30am and met our friend Matt who drove us to Logan Airport in exchange for a box of Krispy Kremes. Thanks Matt! We flew JetBlue for the first time and I was so excited to watch TV on the plane, but it was TV between 6:30am and 10am, um, GOOD TIMES. Other than the fact that JD forgot to renew his license and had to go through security and couldnt rent our car (good thing Im 25!) we had no issues with getting to Orlando. We rented from Dollar and drove a Hyundai Accent hatchback, tiny car but boy did it have pickup! Gotta love the economy class if its just the 2 of you.
After a quick stop at Walmart for room snacks and suntan lotion, we got to Coronado on our first try at around 12pm. This is an event for us, getting to our hotel the first time around. Youd think I know it like the back of my hand since we are both former CPs but no! We get lost every year. But not this year! Our room wasnt ready so we went for lunch at ESPN. We love this restaurant and have to go every year. Hotwings and Sideline fries! Our server was the same guy who had recommended the hotwings to me 2 years ago, I forget how it came up but we told him that and at the end of the meal he brought us the hockey puck for free! JD said it was the best dessert hes ever had. We NEVER get Disney magic, most of our vacations are straightforward but when it rains it pours and that was just the first of many fun and unexpected things on this trip!
Back at the hotel, our room still wasnt finished so we put on our suits and went to the main pool at Coronado. I had a pina colada, they are soo good at Siestas! This pool is awesome, I love the theme with the Mayan Pyramid and the waterslide. We stayed for about an hour and a half and finally our room was ready! I dont think anyone has ever been as excited as we were to see a hotel room. We were so excited to be at a moderate resort! It met all of our expectations and felt so much bigger than the value, we stayed at Pop Century last year. The beds even felt higher and more cushy. I definitely recommend Coronado Springs, the grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and the décor is so much fun! Everything is a walk but we like to walk so it was no big deal.
After we were settled and showered and ready to go, we decided that tonight was the best night for E-ride. Since we were planning on going Friday night and Hurricane Charley was set to hit then, we figured we wouldnt risk cancellation on Friday (the last E-ride night). So yes, after waking up at 4:45am, we went to the Magic Kingdom till 2am! The crowds were not bad at all. We were really shocked at the wait times, we didnt wait longer than 20 minutes for anything on the entire trip. We had dinner at Pinocchios where the stairs were closed off so we couldnt sit in our usual spot. I got my first of many little containers of pickles, I get them whether or not Im eating at the restaurant or just JD is. Im weird, what can I say? I love pickles. Then we rode Splash twice before the fireworks. Wishes was amazing! Our first and last sighting of Tinkerbelle! At E-ride I rode 1st seat on Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear twice, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain twice, Splash twice, Magic Carpets, we just had an amazing time! Then it was off to our resort for some sleep!
Next up Breakfast at BOMA and more wacky Disney hijinx!
