OK well here we go... I have not been back on the DIS site in a long time. My ex-husband and I used to be on all the time. After we separated, I was a "gym-a-holic" I went everday. And with all the stress in my life, I didn't eat or snack much... Needless to say, I lost a substantial amount of weight down to 174:banana: ... The whole dating phase kept me busy and out of the house so there was no time to be a couch potato!!! Well I finally met someone that I have so much in common with. We have had a lot of ups and downs and he stuck by my side through my divorce. Anyways, the longer my relationship went with the "new guy" the more I started to gain weight again. I got back up to a whopping 213 :scared1: !!! He worked with me, as he struggles with weight as well, with an excercise and eating program and I got back down to 183...:cool1: !!! OK well we were recently engaged in July of 07 and I am very much in love with my fiance. However, I am not in love with myself! We took his 8 year old daughter to WDW this past June and I was so disgusted when I saw the pictures after we arrived home. I can not keep myself motivated. I will do good for a few weeks and then fall off the band wagon and start packing it on again. Well, both of my parents and my sister are diabetic and my doctor told me the only reason why I am not a diabetic is because I am active. But if I slack off in that area, it is inevitable that I will become a diabetic as well. I am on two different medications already or high blood pressure and I am only 33!!!:rotfl2: So my new regimen begins tomorrow 11/13/07 (ironically my anniversary date with my 1st husband) the date wasn't too lucky for my marriage, so lets try it as a weightloss starting date... Wish me luck... Starting weight 206!!!:yay: :worship: :tiptoe:

Welcome to the WISH boards! You know, any day that you start your weight loss journey is a good one. If you keep waiting for the right day, then you will never begin, so it's good to see that you are just doing it.:cool1:

Just remember to take it one step at a time and celebrate all the little victories as well as the big ones. I know what it is like to put the weight back on after a great loss, but at least you know that it is very achievable. Good luck on your first day!

Thanks Lesli...

OK well day one. I made it to the gym and successfully completed 35 minutes on the treadmill!!!:cool1:

Hopefully the eating will go as smoothly throughout the day!

Welcome Kelly! ( I assume that is your name! lol!!! ) :welcome:

Congrats on the engagement!!! Have you guys set a date?

I know you will find journalling a great resource for you! There are so many folks on here that offer encouragment, suggestions and a shoulder to lean on when needed. Their support for me has been invaluable.

I know you will do a great job at this weight loss thing! That was my starting weight too!!! I've found it easier to set smaller goals for myself...I have certain "events" and I've set goals to be a certain weight for those...

Great job on getting to the gym this morning! That is a great way to start your weight loss program!

Hi Kelly! It sound like you are doing good so far! The gym and all! I wish you the best of luck with your plan! The journals are quite fun actually, I'm pretty new myself, but enjoying a place to put my thoughts and hear others! Everyone here is super nice and we are rooting for you!

Hi Kelly

I am like you - do well for a while and then slip back into old habits - I have been on every diet and every diet works ....for awhile and then :confused3

Anyways - my new plan is 3 simple steps
1. exercise everyday - I do the treadmill for 30 -45 minutes and then we have a totalgym and I us this for my upper body every other day I also have an exercise ball which I use for abdominals every other day
I don't RUN on the treadmill i just jog at about 3miles/hour

2. Drink enough water everyday!

3. Eat better - I try to eat fresh foods only whole grain pastas and breads stay away from junk food

I won't step on the scale - the scale is evil! I have noticed in the past week and a half that I feel better and a few of my jeans feel better on even without doing deep knee bends first:laughing:

Eventually I'll get there AND SO WILL YOU!

Just remember there is more to being healthy than a number on a scale:goodvibes

Welcome to the WISH board. I have found that journaling helps me focus on what I want in terms of my health and why I want it. Hopefully you will find the same is true for you. Congratulations on your engagement! Good job on the exercise and following through with your plan.

Hope you have a good evening!

Susan
