Hey everyone, I have a dilemma.

I bought a new cross body purse for our Disney trip a while back. I'm not sure if it's big enough now. So my mom offered to let me use a little backpack she had purchased for our last trip.

Here's my problem: I'm paranoid about people stealing my credit card, KTTW card, etc. out of my backpack because I can't see it. I feel much safer with my bag at my side. ALSO, I'm thinking that having to fish out fastpasses, KTTW cards from my back will be really annoying.

I'm considering ordering the Overland Donner bag instead: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/Pr...tm_campaign=PCGOOGLEBASE9&codesProcessed=true

What do you think? Do you feel safe carrying your stuff in a backpack, behind you? Or do you feel like a side bag is safer?

We have always carried everything in a backpack and never had a problem. How do you think some one will unzip your backpack and steal your cards without you knowing it?!
I wouldn't buy another bag. Take both bags and if the crossbody isn't big enough you can change to the backpack.

Paranoia :rotfl:

I never said that the concern was exactly rational!

Keep your KTTW and credit card in a lanyard around your neck or pushed down in your backpack. We are very trusting and also very careful and have never had anything stolen---even when my husband accidently left our $2K camera hanging on back of the stroller while we ate in LeCellier!!!

I keep the important cards and a little cash in one of those hard cases that you wear around your neck. I first bought one to wear in the pool but now I wear it in the parks, too. I can carry 4 KTTW cards, a credit card, a dream rewards card, $50, and our fastpasses in it with room to spare. I still use a small backpack for the camera, tissues, sunblock, etc.

I've used a baggallini backpack for 2 WDW trips and countless day trips to DL and have never felt unsafe. I just keep things tucked down (or used the strap pocket). I am a little OCD about checking to make sure my bag is still zipped up, but I check my purse too, so that didn't really change things for me. You should be fine. I hope you have a great trip.:goodvibes

I use a lanyard that I got while on the Disney cruise, to hold my tickets and fastpasses. With wearing it my stuff is easily accessable when needed and close by my side.

I bought one of these for this next trip and I am excited about using it. It has a zipper compartment that will be right up against your back, which is where I am going to keep my tickets and money. Everything else will go inside.

Vera Bradley also makes a small, not fanny pack but like one, waist pack. It would be great for money & tickets.

I understand how you feel - I'm the same way. I either use my Baggallini or my Eddie Bauer Expedition Bag, both cross body bags.

I feel paranoid with a backpack, too. I know too many people who've had wallets, etc., stolen out of their backpacks while they were on train and had no idea. I know Disney isn't exactly as crime-ridden as public city public transportation, but it still leads me to be more protective of my stuff than that.

I did end up buying the Donner bag. I realized my DH's backpack doesn't even have any place to hold a water bottle. I feel much better about having a cross body bag with everything I need. And for just $13... it's a steal!

Can you get the hard cases in the resorts or only at the waterparks? They sound ideal.

I don't put anything in a bag that I couldn't stand to lose.

Can you keep your KTTW, credit card, etc in your front pants pocket?

My mom used to make a little pouch (kind of like a fanny pack but way smaller) that she kept her important stuff in - passport, ID, hotel keys, etc. It was thin enough to wear under clothes, but big enough to hold all the important stuff.

I have the Overland Donner bag and I love it! When my kids were small and I was the family pack mule, I preferred the backpack. Now my kids are big enough to carry their own stuff. I can fit a poncho, my camera, extra batteries, a small first aid kit, Crystal light packets, sunscreen, and other stuff in my Donner bag plus two water bottles. It doesn't weigh me down like my Baggalinni did.

Does the backpack have a zippered pocket on the inside? That would be a great place to put your valuables (credit card, etc.) since someone would have to get into the backpack, then into the inside zippered pocket, to grab something.

I have the same dilemma this year - I love my backpack, but it's a drag having to take it on and off to access my pass (for fast pass machines, etc.). I got a tiny (I mean tiny!) little purse that's sort of like a lanyard, but better, that I'm going to try for my pass and some money, in addition to my backpack. I'm not a fan of lanyards, but think this might serve the same purpose.

I used a Vera Bradley mini hipster to hold the KTTW cards, credit card, cash, camera, phone, etc and then everything else went in my backpack. It worked great for me.

I have a money belt which I tack inside my pants in the front, to get something out I just unzipper it. I keep cash & CC's in there.

If you are worried about your backpack wear it backwards so the pack is actually in the front of you.

However, the best advice is simply to bring enough cash for the day and only one CC.

I have a lanyard for around my neck that will have our KTTW, FastPasses, and Credit Cards in... The backpack is for other odds and ends.
