Keeping two rental car reservations?

We leave on Wednesday and have almost identical reservations at Alamo and Budget.

Alamo has the benefit of choosing the car but Budget includes a free additional driver.

I want to keep both reservations until I see what is being offered on the Alamo aisle. I would normally never keep two reservations so I am not sure what happens if I don't cancel. I am members of both of their programs so they do have some of my information on file.

Is there any chance I would be charged for the extra reservation? I would certainly cancel once we picked.

I think it would create conflict especially on your finances. Try to choose one....

This doesn't make any sense.

OP, usually you don't have any penalties for not honoring a car rental reservation. I'd keep the Budget reservation. If you don't like your assigned car, you can always request a switch.

Thanks! I am leaning towards keeping the Budget one and hoping we get an ok car. Our last car from them was very dirty but somewhat our fault for not requesting a different car.
