keeping parade spots for others!!

I also want to add that if you’re getting there & that many ppl are there with saved spots, then you have arrived way too late. When I get a spot about an 45-to an hr before Boo To You, there are very few ppl there saving spots.

I think there is a big difference in saving a spot that someone has already been in, but has temporarily vacated to hit a bathroom or grab a drink, and the one person saving a dozen spots for hours for people who are off riding attractions and haven’t set eyes on Main Street since they entered the park that morning. It’s the same principle as line cutters. If a parent has to take a child for a quick potty break (especially when the lines are more than an hour long) I have no trouble letting them back in, but when one person enters the line alone, only to have a dozen of their closest friends try to join just before boarding, then I have an issue.

I also agree that if the perfect parade spot is important to you, then you need to sacrifice the time to make it happen. I once waited 4 hours sitting on the curb to get photos of MSEP during its final season. No one was sitting anywhere that early, but it was important to me to find the right spot so I made sure I was early enough to get it.

just wanted to add, I wanted to see Candle Light show in DL one year. My husband and son thought I was nuts but. I was at the gates of the park an hour in half early and made some nice friends, then we each were able to snag our benches. Yes, we got those benches "mine" and laid blankets and pillows down. Not one time that day was the bench empty. We switched around because they were not going to stay with me all day. However, I want to say some of the older women I chatted with, had to use the restroom or grab lunch. You bet you but I told others that bench is taken. We all sorta helped each other that day.

Also, we plan to try and show up early and I will have my umbrella, seeing how bad the sun issues gotten with me. So I will be ok almost anywhere. (don't need to find shade) but I will look at maps for closest bathrooms because not everyone can hold it hours. I have had some bad issues this year.

This is so true if you get there 45-60 minutes beforehand you will 99% of the time get a spot up front, anything after and you might not. OP I am sorry you were doing something else like a ride that the people sitting could not do.

How about this. If you want a good spot, go early and find one, just like everyone else. Maybe someone needs to go to the bathroom. Maybe the kids are hungry and someone needs to go on a food run. Maybe the kids are a little restless and need to blow off a little energy. Maybe there's one of a few other hundred reasons why not every single person in the group is sitting waiting.

What gets me is the entitled people who show up at the last minute and cram into that 2x2 foot space in front of you. Rude beyond belief. [/rant]

im not talking about the people sitting though am i?????

An earlier poster said, saving spaces was already being looked into to put a stop to,i hope this is true!!

the only thing I have heard is that Disney cast members are now allowed or did it unallowed, but are removing blankets that are left unattended. so do not just leave a blanket down and walk away That is Inconsiderate and will not work. You will come back to the blanket folded up on top a trash can or something and that spot was gone. AT least have one person there. I do not mind one holding for a few family. However more then 5? you need a few ppl holding that many spots. Again just my opinion and we all have them.

That is ignorant statement which i will ignore!!
No more ignorant than everything you've said to them. They have a disability and do have someone that saves their spot and is sitting there at the time @gap2368 is in the bathroom. So there wouldn't have been a spot for you anyway. Show up in due time to get a spot or don't have one, it's all in priorities here.

........Good night..

Well then I guess you will be glad to know that my mom just made what is most likely her last trip to Disney a few weeks ago and we will no longer have to to worry about saving her seat because she has to get up and walk around for a few minutes because her hip is hurting from having to use a cane due to having brain surgery from stage 4 aggressive brain cancer or when she had to use the restroom and my aunt needed to go with her since she gets confused in unfamiliar places and I needed to save both their spots.

I have just looked on google .Disneyland is trying to stop space saving so hopefully Orlando will follow!!
That was back in March and if you go to the DL thread, by April it was not being enforced. If someone wants to spend their time waiting, so be it. It is no different then when I was younger and me and my friends were waiting for concert tickets. There was a bunch of times 1,2 or 3 of us would go to the bathroom or do a food run, while 1-2 of stayed in line. I laugh at this kindergarten mentality of once you are out of line you have to go to the back.

And I truly don’t understand the logic. If you know ppl start to save seats by x time, then why can’t you plan to be there on or before that time?? Do you ppl operate like this at movie theatres? You & your family get seats & a person gets up to go the bathroom & then this seat is now up for grabs?

So let me get this right.

You would take a spot from a toddler who had to go to the bathroom? From a parent who had to change their baby’s messy diaper? From someone who was thirsty and needed to get water?

Yikes.

We never have issues finding parade spots when arriving appropriately early based on how busy it is. We have never missed a parade at Easter or New Year’s and have never had to desperately look because we get there early. If you were desperately looking, you didn’t get there early enough.

You don’t know a thing about these people you are judging and why they are or aren’t in their spots. Mind your own business, get there early to get a good spot and just enjoy the parade.

All this whining about why you didn’t get a spot is because you didn’t get there before them. Easy fix.

Truth.

Everyone, just adhere to the "half-the-party minus 1" rule.

Proven most acceptable equation. It's science.

Disneyland spot saving was way more extreme than a mom saving a spot for her family. There were rows and rows of blankets lining main st 3-4 hours before parades would start. IMG_5846.JPG

We ALL sat in our spot for over an hour for HEA last week. Didn't make any difference. When the show started, people crowded into the "walking only aisle" and proceeded to put their kids on their shoulders right in front of us. These people didn't wait for any amount of time and CMs did nothing to make them move.

We will probably never wait again and just catch it from wherever we are, but we had one member who could not stand for very long, so we had found spots to sit and wait.
I had the same problem. We made sure to get decent spots so my two DD could see. Well just before the show started everyone began piling in where the walkways were supposed to be. They had one tiny little CM Who was in charge of getting people to keep moving. Needless to say no one listened to her and she eventually gave up. Neither kid could see after all that time spent waiting.

I really cannot begin to care if a mom is holding the spot for her family while the dad is walking the little ones around. Or if dad needs a break and sits saving some spots while the rest of the family is enjoying themselves. If the whole family were there, the same number of spots would be taken, why does it matter?

I tend to agree with you. Waiting for parades has become a time where you are able to go to bathroom, get something to eat and have a look at shops whilst someone is saving a spot. If a person has been waiting for hours for a spot and their family wants to walk around, I believe that it should be allowed. There will always be the people that step over the boundary and save a ridiculous amount of space or are rude to people regarding it. From experience a family member has saved a spot whilst we went to get something to eat and went to the bathroom

We usually find a spot pretty early and just sit there. Sometime I’ll leave to go to the bathroom or grab a quick snack, but that’s it. It doesn’t bother me too much.

What bothers me the most is when one is sitting and someone stands right in front of you... or it’s super crowded already and people still squeeze I. When there is obviously no more space
