Keeping Luggage after Arrival

I have a question for anyone who just returned from Orlando.
Is it true that we are able to keep our luggage after Immigration and customs and done return it to claim it at the baggage claim?We would definitly like to keep it.

We were given the option to do this in 2007, though didn't as we had 2 cases each and didn't want to lug them around more than we had to. I saw a few people wheeling them to the monorail though.

we kept ours last year.It seemed much quicker that way,we didnt have to wait by 2nd luggage pick up.

That´s exactly what I´m thinking,thanks.We will keep our luggage,last time we waited nearly 30 minutes at the 2 luggage claim.

We kept ours a couple of weeks ago. Just one word of warning - you do have to be able to manage without a trolley as luggage trolleys are not allowed on the monorail.

Does MCO have a different set up? Every airport I've travelled through you leave the aircraft, then pass though immigration/passport control, then collect your luggage and leave. Is this not the case in MCO?

It's set up weirdly in that the customs area is quite a way away from the car hire/taxi pickup/exit type area, you get from one to the other via monorail and I guess they do the 'second drop' as a courtesy since it's a fair distance to drag cases without a trolley if you have a lot of cases or you have young kids with you, on the flip side it can be a bit of a wait to pick them up again though.
