I've been to WDW several times in the summer, but this will be my first time taking insulin . How do I keep it from overheating while I am in the parks?

Are you talking about insulin in a pump? If so, there is really nothing you can do to keep it cool. If you are talking about insulin in a vial or in pens you can order on Amazon a FRIO cooling pack. They come in all kinds of sizes and configurations and do a good job of keeping insulin cool. I also believe you can keep insulin cool in a first aid station in each park? Someone can correct me on that one as we have never done that but I thought I had read it may be an option.

if it is in a pump they do make Frio bags but they are very hard to use and your pump needs to be water proof and no cracks in the pump. but you can keep in in your pocket, change the set once a day.

if not in a pump just get a Fro bag sock in water for the time it says and go it will last days but I find just running water over it for even 3 minute in the morning help it stay cooler better.

never trust the small hotel fridges insulin frezzeing ruins in faster then it getting to hot. Insulin if fine in room tap fro any where from 28 days to 60

My son has a pump and not much you can do. We've had a few times that we changed out the insulin because it seemed like that was the problem and not his infusion set - but it's hard to tell. Typically he's in and out of the heat enough that the insulin stays fine. I have a Frio bag for the vials and you can also buy a Frio bag for the pens too. You can also keep it at first aid but that's not so convenient to get to - especially if you're doing shots and want to eat! I'm going to guess you're using vials or insulin pens so look into getting a Frio bag: http://www.frioinsulincoolingcase.com That website shows their range of products but several of them are for sale at amazon.com as well.

also If you get a fro bag the bag need air to work putting in a back back or other type bag is fin but do not put it in a plastic bag.

I do not have a pump so I just ordered a Frio. It took a long time to decide which one! lol

I think you'll be happy with it! As the previous person mentioned, it needs air to work so don't store it inside a plastic bag. When you're done using it and before storing it - make sure you leave it out so it can dry out completely. I've had one for about 10 years now and it still works perfectly (I use it for trips though - not daily). It will keep the bottle cool - not refrigerator cold - but that's all you really need in the parks.

another reccomendation on the frio. it keeps the insulin from getting hot.

DW took other diabetes medicine that used pens and had to stay cool and used a frio pack. She had it for quite a number of years, and always used it on trips. It worked well.
