I know that my best chance at staying well during my September Disney visit is to keep hydrated. I have been trying to "practice" this during the summer and I find that I fail miserably. I do ok for a while and then, it falls by the wayside. This will not do in September.

I am thinking that a good swallow every 15 minutes will be best.

How do you manage this? How do you "remind" yourself to keep drinking? Will it really come down to me having to buy a watch with a timer or using my cell phone to keep me on my toes???

Tips please!

I am not good at drinking water often myself - and I live in the hot, humid south. Just keep a bottle of water with you and you will drink it. Don't wait until you are tired and weak, you're just about too late then. But really you shouldn't have any trouble remembering to hydrate yourself.

You could try to condition yourself to take a sip every time you get either on or off of a ride. That would be more fun than a watch timer :)

I always keep a bottle on me. I have a backpack with a little drink pouch on it. I don't drink water a lot either, but when I'm there I crave water. Just be aware of your body, it'll help to tell you when you need some water.

We got a very cheap water bottle lanyard at Walmart. It was attached to a carabiner and my husband kept it on his camera bag. It made it easy to carry a water bottle around the parks. We would stop at a water fountain and fill it and each drink most of a bottle there then fill it up to take with us. By drinking a lot whenever we refilled we did ok. It is hard to remember to stop and take drinks while you are going around the parks.

I will warn you that the water fountain water wasn't the best. I didn't think it would bother me but sometimes I had to work to ignore the extra "flavors". When you ask for a cup of water at a counter service restaurant though it is filtered and tasted much better.

Enjoy your trip!

I don't normally drink water, but when we were there the first week in June I carried a bottle of water with me at all times, and had no problem drinking it! As a side bonus, I had a tour of every bathroom at WDW! :lmao: I think that as long as it is in your hand, you'll be drinking it.

We just returned last night and older DD and I now know where every bathroom is at WDW! We carried a bottle of water with us as well as asked for a cup of ice water at Counter Service restaurants whenever we ate. This way we had icy water for us and for our O2Cool (Misty Mate) bottle.

The drink straps at Disney are about $3.50. We each have one and they are long enough to wear across your body. A bottle of water hanging on you is a pretty good reminder that you need to drink it.

I second the idea of bringing the flavor packets. That is the only way I can get DS to drink water. I have also read that if you drink from a straw you will drink more. That is what they told me when I was trying to lose weight and trying to drink my required 8 daily glasses of water. I was failing miserably. It helps.

I would also find a water that you like and maybe consider freezing some to take in the parks with you. I cannot stand Disani water and that is what Disney sells everywhere. They also sell Smart Water which is probably some of the best bottled water there is in my opinion. I would walk until I found a stand selling Smart Water!

I have used the flavor packets on previous Disney trips. Those trips were usually taken in October and my water intake was good enough.
My husband will be carrying water using a body strap and I will have mine in a side pouch in my backpack. I may have to have it in my hand to drink as much as I will need to....
I appreciate all the responses because I know dehydration is a serious problem for many who travel during the hot months.
