DD will be on formula a few extra weeks 'cause we're going to the world a week after her 1st B'day. Just easier to do this & the Dr gave us the choice. I would prefer bringing the powdered formula (Similac) in the value sized cans, but I would think these are tough to travel with. I thought about using large ziplocs and dumping the powder in, but don't want the security at the airport thinking it's drugs or worse. We will be in Boca for a few days prior to the WDW portion of our trip, and I have a Costco membershi, so I could buy it there. My local Costco has not carried the Similac powder for a while, so I don't know if the FL Costco will. Any ideas? Thanks!

We bought Similac in the extra large can at Kmart and it was cheaper than it is here in Chicago by about $4 a can. Just a thought, in case Costco doesn't have Similac. Another thought is to make sure you have a least one can with you in case you have trouble finding it right away (which you shouldn't, but you never know.)

I have travel when both my kids was still on formula, each time i had the ready made cans (6oz or 8oz) delivered straight to our hotel before we arrived. I found it to be easier to just open up a can and pour it in the bottle or sippy cup. Then again both my kids were a bottle schedule so that was also easier, I knew how many cans to take with me to the parks each day. If I ran I just gave them juice till we got back to the hotel.

Hope this helps. Have a good trip

I like individual packets that make 4 ounces for the park, although they are more expensive. We had a large can for the room and then we used the packets in the park. I also bought a 3-part container that held formula. You can buy formula--don't remember if it's Similac--at the parks' baby center and the Dolphin's convenience store, but it's much more expensive. I wouldn't do the ziploc bags. If anything I would put them in tupperware-type containers and carry them on the plane with you.

If you have a rental car I would buy it in FL even if it is a touch more expensive. You will most likely have to do a grocery stop for other family favorites and needs especially at the WDW portion. We always hit the grocery, get a styrafoam cooler and ice. This way we have breakfast, snacks and drinks as well as the makings for a sandwich and some fruits.

Packing for a family is hard enough so I try to pack as little as I can. I would also wonder about the changes in temp and pressure affecting the powder. I guess if it were a hard to find formula then I would bring but with similac you should be able to get it anywhere. For ease in the parks we used the powdered formula divider (3 servings) with bottles filled with water. DD's liked it room temp so I would just add powder to the bottle of water, shake and we were good to go.

We packed a Value sized can of Similac Advance when we drove to DW last month becuase I was concerned about locating it once we were there just to be on the safe side. Here in NJ...this particular formula has been sold out on several occassions in Walmart and our local super market.

Also, Baby has a sensitive stomach and I wasn't going to take a chance of having to hussle about to find the fomula.

No, Similac is not sold in the Baby Care Centers in the park. I believe it was Good Start that was sold there.

I also purchased a three compartment storage container in Walmart to pre-measure formula for three bottles and then made up the bottles as we needed in the Baby Care Centers. Three bottles usually lasted us for the time in the parks.

There is at least one Walmart within driving distance and I know they sell Similac formula, so if you have a rental car...you could choose to shop there. We had to shop for Diapers while we were there and I checked on the formula and they had the Similac Advance for about what we paid back in NJ..$23.00 for the largest can.

I think if we had flown...I would have packed it just the same. I think and unopened can of formula might get through security easier than if you opened it and put it out into bags.

I would expect there will be plenty of grocery stores with Similac at prices comparable to home anywhere between Boca and WDW, just but it before you hit Goodings or WDW property. Target, Wal-Mart and Publix will all have it for good prices. My DDs were also Similac girls, if you have been to a Target store they carry a generic brand of it, and both girls did great with it, and it was less than 1/2 the price of Similac. I believe it was Healthy Baby? Anyhow, infant formula is heavily regulated, so there is unlikely any difference in ingredients or nutritional value.

We have traveled twice already to WDW with DD who will be one on the 25th of this month. We buy the value size cans and I take sandwich bags with me. I just dole out the desired amount for whatever size bottle I want and stick them in the back pack with some bottles prefilled with water. I can make the bottle up when I am ready.
