Keeping an eye on Tropical Weather 2024

In their latest update, they officially announced they will NOT open Disney Springs today...now, that's the 10am thoughts...that could still change.
I would anticipate Disney Springs remaining closed today. Many of the staff that work there live locally and are most likely trying to take care of their family and home and not need the pressure of going to work today through flooded streets or debris.

The resorts are offering food and other things for resort guests.

I get that they open the parks so quickly but they allow CM's to stay home if they need to take care of their property etc?
I hope guests will be patient if WDW is short on CMs for a few more days. From debris blocking driveways & local streets to wet floors & repairs needed, child care issues, helping family in harder-hit areas, not everyone is able to leave home for work so easily & so quickly.

The CM in my family has no power at home.
We also have no power - about 35 miles SE of Orlando.44% of our county has NO POWER. There are massive #s of power outages, debris & flooding all along Milton's path. Just because things look OK at the resort hotels is in no way reflective of how things really are outside of the theme park areas unfortunately.

For those waiting on news on MCO, this just came out. We're supposed to fly in tomorrow night, though this doesn't provide much guidance. Not too informative...

"Operational Update/8 – Hurricane MiltonAlthough we’ll receive a few domestic arrivals this evening, no departures or international flights will occur. Please don’t come to the airport for a departing flight tonight. Departures begin tomorrow. Check with your airline for updates."

OK this update on MCO's site is better phrased. Seems like they're bringing in some planes tonight to resume "normal" (in major quotes!) operations tomorrow. Airlines will now have updates on specific flights.

That makes sense. The airport is opening, the timing of which is in line with what the FAA put out, but they don't want people showing up looking for flights out, today, cuz there are none.

I'll take no power for a week or 2 then losing a roof, having flooding or structural damage to a home. Yeah just cause the parks are open doesn't mean that things are great everywhere sadly
The insurance headaches alone 😱😱. Companies fighting each other over what damage is flood vs what damage was hurricane. And now what damage was Helene vs Milton. And then your next insurance bill (if you’re not self insured) skyrocketing. As will your flood insurance bill. I used to dream of a retirement in FL and now-no thanks.

Sure it good news and means the Runways are clear and the Airport will open today. The rest will be up to the Carriers to restart their schedules.

They have to receive the originating flights for tomorrow and since it is late in today's schedule Airlines are not rushing to add turn-around flights for this evening it's too late. International Flights would need to have already left for MCO as a destination and they could not file a flight plan to a closed Airport.

Did you check with your Airline and do they have any updates on your flight tomorrow night? Do you have a non-stop or a connecting Airport?

Yes, thanks Dave! Piecing it together slowly and it's starting to make sense!

United has all its NY-area originating flights "on schedule" for tomorrow. We're fortunate that it's direct and later in the day.

Hi, all - My sister evaluated to YC from Tampa; she and her daughter and pup are safe, thankfully. They're both kind of picky eaters, and I tried to warn her that she should go over to Epcot and grab some snacks and stuff from the bakery at the France pavilion, but it didn't happen. So now, we have two picky eaters with boxed snacks that they don't like, just as predicted. Anyone have any reports of quick service or buffets available or anything? I know, I know. I told them to buy the darn baguettes! Thanks!

Yes I will be curious as well to see if all these on schedule flights get out tomorrow. It's not the airports I am concerned about. It is more about what the airlines themselves did to shuffle things or planes around.
Yes this will be a challenge in both directions. First the Carriers start with tomorrow's schedule of flights which since it is a holiday weekend will already be full or almost full. How do they manage the extra passengers trying to into MCO and also those trying to get out of MCO.

They also have to manage the crews scheduled for tomorrow arrivals / departures and where they are now located not to mention how their equipment scheduled load is for tomorrow. And then the fun begins as they move in aircraft that is scheduled to depart from MCO tomorrow morning as originating flights.

No direct suggestions but with all the food options around Crescent Lake they should be able to find something to eat. Also have them consider the Swan / Dolphin and the Swan Reserve.

What food options are available to them at the YC/BC?

The weather is cooperating still this afternoon so they can get out and check their options.

We are here at Beach Club. They can walk up to Cape May for the buffet, Beaches and Cream, or the Marketplace. The Boardwalk has some options too. I think the pizza window is even operating.
