Keeping a cabana a surprise from adults in another stateroom?

First, I totally realize that this will likely be a moot question as I am just a lowly Silver, but...

IF I can snag a SB cabana for my Feb cruise, I would love for it to be a surprise for my parents. (I am taking them - we have separate staterooms.) Since I think I remember reserved excursions being listed in the booklet, I was thinking I could just use my name when reserving it and then once I know they have their booklet add them on. Can that be done or do they need to be added in at reserving it?

(And yes. My dad is one who will read every page of the booklet even when he knows the information on that page.)

If you reserve a cabana, you just reserve it in your name. The one reservation covers up to 6 people. I don't believe you have to actually select which 6 people until you are onboard. If you have more than 6 people, you may have to indicate how many you wish to reserve for.

Awesome! Thank you!

When you reserve a cabana, at least my experience the many times I have, it does have the check-boxes to select all the guests IF your reservations are linked. However, as Shmoo posted, you do not need to add them at that time. You could even wait until you are on the ship to do so.

However, assuming your parents' cabin is linked to your reservation, if they log in to their res on DCL's site they will be able to see that YOU have a cabana (and any other port adventures or dining) if they know where to look.

Gotcha. Thanks.

And good point. I've told them I'm taking care of check-in and stuff - leaving their account cash and they can put a card on it for whatever they spend. :) I'm giving them the cruise including prepaid grats - just like when we've cruised together before but in reverse! :) So they shouldn't be going in. My dad I know wouldn't know where to look. My mom might.

Then again, I could just add them and be all innocent when they see it. :P

Although all this is likely a completely moot point.

FYI, it is not impossible to get a cabana... :-)

On our FIRST DCL cruise we managed to get a SB cabana 20 days out from the cruise. I checked every day once or twice a day for availability and that day suddenly there was so I claimed it right away.

I realize I got exceptionally lucky. However, it does show it is not impossible to get one.

I know... I think I'm talking myself down so much so that if there IS one available at midnight on Thanksgiving I can be EXTRA thankful! :)

I will add that Serenity Beach cabanas are more likely to be had since there are generally less adult cruisers seeking those than family cruisers seeking those on the family beach. Still great you were able to grab a cabana, but I wanted to manage expectations.

Oh I'm fully NOT expecting to get one. Expectations managed! :)

Just as an FYI, if your accounts are linked for dining, etc. they WILL see the reservation for it online.

As a side note, we actually had an issue with this. We reserved a cabana, we have 3 people. We were linked to eat with some friends on the same cruise. Day before Cabana day, I got 7 bracelets, and they were charging me for the additional beyond 6. They assumed that the other party was going in our cabana. They absolutely weren't, and they were not listed on our cabana reservation, even though they could see all of our activities and excursions. They even put their name on the cabana. Of course they took off the charge, but it was an annoying process!

Gotcha. I don't think they'll be going into it since I said I'd be handling the check in and so forth. Not a big deal I guess.

There's still cabanas on CC after Mathew:confused3 :smooth:

Like I said, I'm not counting on getting one.

But from the reports it was not as bad as anticipated. I suspect as much as they make off those puppies they are built much sturdier than they look.

at over $10,000 each time a ship docks you KNOW that they built them to survive a direct hit from a hurricane!!
