Hey, I had the experience over my 4 day trip of my ticket not working. You really need to be careful to keep the black strip (on the paper tickets) flat and in perfect condition. I kept my ticket in my pocket and as a result it got bent and sweaty, and all messed up. It wouldn't work at Blizzard Beach so I had to wait in line and get a new ticket, not fun :sad2: . Also my friends' didn't work since they got it a little bit wet at Blizzard Beach. Moral of the story- get the "credit card" type tickets, or keep yours in a wallet where it will stay flat and dry. Have a fun trip! :cheer2:

We have Annual Passes and they give them in a little booklet with a holder. I just keep them in there, and in my fanny pack. It keeps them straight, all in one place and I can't lose them.

How do you get the credit card type tickets? I just ordered mine and I'm wondering what they will be like..

We got ours and they are the paper kind w/ the strip on the back - any other hints on how to keep them in good condition? What are the credit card kind - where do you get them - can you trade them in for those? Very curious.

Hey! I'm not sure how you get that kind but i did see ppl that had them. I suggest putting them in a plastic baggie so they don't get wet. You should be fine, I was after I learned my lesson the 1st time :)

This may be a dumb question but can you laminate the passes?
No. There is a magnetic strip on the card that would not work if laminated. Dont' stress about the tickets, its really not a problem. They are much more durable than you think. And if something does happen, just walk over to the nearest ticket window and they'll issue you a new one.

You can get the credit card types at the resorts, and no you don't have to stay there to get them either. My nephews came to visit us one day and they bought their tickets at the front desk, they said they weren't staying at the hotel, but still got credit card types....is it worth going all the way to a resort to get one, well that is up to you. :earboy2:

For about $1 at WalMart, I bought a clear plastic holder - on a lanyard - with a zip lock top. It seems a good size for holding the whole family's passes. In addition, there's a clear pocket on the outside (no ziplock closure) to slip Fastpasses in, so we can easily see the times on them without having to dig around in pockets, etc. My daughter will probably carry this in her belly bag - but it could easily go around one of our necks. It was in the department with wallets, keychains, plastic "pockets" to slip into wallets to hold photos, etc. (near the jewelry counter). We don't do the water rides or water parks, so I'm not sure this would work for everybody, but it seems like a great solution for us.

What if you purchase your tickets online? Can you pick them up at a resort, even if you're staying offsite? And does anyone know how late the front desk stays open?

The paper tickets are actually not paper; they are a card stock made with Tyvek, so they are tougher than they look.
Even though the credit card ones look more durable, CMs have posted (and we've been told) that they have much more problem with the plastic ones. More chance of the magnetic strip getting scratched off, and if you sit on them, they don't bend, they crack.
So, whatever kind you have, take care of it. But, if it stops working or gets damaged, you can get a new one pretty easily.

Well, I normally don't have problems with my AP, but this last trip, I think they hated seeing me coming. I had to have it replaced 3 times. The first couple of times, it got completely soaked from the rain. (I had it in it's sleeve, in my leather purse, and the rain still soaked it.) The other time I don't know why it wouldn't work, but it just wouldn't.
So, I'm hoping when we go back in November that it will work, but I'm not holding my breath. (Mainly because that is a long time to hold my breath.)

I have clip on sunglasses that attach to my regular glasses with magnets on the frame. My first trip to WDW my ticket/room key was never working. I had it replaced 3 times. The last time, the CM asked me if I had any magnets near where I was storing my ticket. I thought he was crazy until I remembered by clip on sunglasses. I did have a magnet. I started storing them separately and had no problems until I got an AP which is the "paper" rather than "credit card" type ticket. I didn't realize that they are magnetic too and my first day I had to get it replaced. Now, I let DH carry my ticket so I don't have to worry about it. :teeth:

I ordered our MYW tickets on Disney.com and received the credit card type tickets!! They also make better keepsakes!!

DH is "keeper of the tickets" when we're at WDW, and last time he had to keep track of 5. Though he was careful about keeping his magnetic key card (for work) and other credit cards away from them, we had trouble one day with one of the MYW tickets. The CM recommended that DH alternate the cards before putting them away so the magnetic stripe of one card was not next to the stripe of another. It seemed to work...no more problems.

When DH and I went in 2000 with 5 other adults. My friend would go through the turnstiles first and take each of our tickets for safekeeping. I was glad I didn't have to be the responsible person on that trip!

I ordered our Park Hopper tickets online several months ago and was quite surprised that they were plastic credit card type tickets. I just assumed they didn't even make the paper ones any more :flower:
