Keep Your Pre-Booked 60-Day FPs Even if Resort Info Changes

I know that someone who is staying on-site can make 60 day FP+ reservations for a friend who is not staying at a resort but is connected via MDE friends and family and have valid park tickets.

And I know that someone who is staying on-site who changes or cancels a resort reservation fewer than 30 days before the final FP+ will not lose any FP+ reservations.

But will the friends who are connected via MDE but are not staying on-site lose their FP+ reservations if someone changes or cancels a resort reservation more than 30 days before the FP+ reservations?

FPs remain because they are based on the linked tickets even if the resort info is deleted.

Just to get this straight: even if the friend with the resort cancelled it 59 days in advance, all the other people would get to keep their FP reservations?

Yes but you won't be able to mess with them at all until your 30 day mark.

I booked a room for one night in late November just to see what would happen. As expected, once the 60 day window arrived, I could make FP reservations using the account of someone who was not a resort guest (but had valid ticket) as long as the resort guest was included in the FP+ reservation group.

Then I removed the resort guest from the group but did not cancel the resort reservation, and I was still able to change the ride, time, and group, even adding new members, even if the resort guest was no longer in the FP group.

Then I cancelled the resort reservation more than 30 days out, and received an alert that all FP reservations associated with that resort reservation for the resort guest would be cancelled. But when I looked at FP reservations in that guest's MDX app, they were still there.

After cancelling the resort reservation, I was still able to make all changes to the FP reservations that did not include the resort guest. The only limitation was that I could not remove someone from a FP group, save the group, and then create a new FP for that person during the resort window. If I wanted to move one member of a group to a new FP, I had to modify the reservation, selecting only the person I wanted to remove; this leaves the remaining party members on the original FP reservation and creates a new one for the changing member.

Much more flexibility than I expected. It's like making FP reservations over a metaphorical gaping chasm. If you drop someone from a FP, they can not be saved. But if you modify a FP with only part of the group, the rest of the group's FP reservation remains. Of course, YMMV, caveat emptor, IANAL, etc.

@hodad ~ you may want to change your thread title so that more DISers can benefit from your research. :)

Thanks for posting! The new system has left a lot of FP elements "open."

I'd be happy to change it. Suggestions? How about "Making FP+ reservations using someone else's 60 day resort umbrella" or something similar?
