Their rates have dropped 2x today already.... here's hoping they drop even farther....

What time frame have you been checking. We need a car for an upcoming trip to Ft. Lauderdale in September and I have been keeping an eye on the rates.

Hope this trend continues. We just returned and I checked national every day until my trip and the price remained the same. One of the highest prices I've ever paid. Probably because cars were in short supply. (Nothing on EA at 10AM.) I will keep my eye out for my next trip in October.

I booked for my August and Oct/Nov trips back in January and they have NOT budged one cent! I can't believe it.

August 21 - August 27 = $184. TOTAL for EA Intermediate

Oct 30 - Nov 7 = $214.14 TOTAL for EA Intermediate.

I used Entertainment coupon $20 off and the Carlson Code as NO other code brings it down, the others all bring it up at least $30.

This is the most I've paid in years.:(

My dates are Aug 11-18.

The intermediate rate went from 242 to 220 to 211 yesterday. It is currently at 211.

I too have cars booked with the Carlson code for a cost of 184.10. If the base rate comes down another 15, it will be even with the carlson code and I can book without the worries of using the Carlson code..... if the base rates go lower, then my price gets lower..

Alamo and Enterprise are at a base rate for my dates of 165 right now for intermediate, so I am guessing some of the others will follow.... I HOPE!

beattyfamily (sorry about the typo--my not me). I agree, my July rate remained the same up until I left. No budging for us either. I just returned this past weekend and I used the carlson code with no problem whatsoever. I had 2 free days through the new emerald rewards program, so applied that to bring my rate down a little. I paid $246 for a 10 day rental--that that's mostly because of the 2 free days.

For my october EA rental for 12 days I have a total rate of $332 (pretty high than in the past). That's with the carlson code and the entertainment $20 coupon.

Alamo's rate for a full size dropped as well. Today I got a confirmation for a Full size using the 1 car upgrade (mid to full) from BJ's for 8/25-30 and the amount was $134.87 including taxes. Extra driver is included. That quote 3 days ago was $175.

I have not checked National.

The low for my October trip is still $300.00 (11 days). Hoping to do better but need a full size with D-mother-in-law coming:crazy: .

FWIW, the rate quoted is a weekly rate. Just checked National for a full size and their rate is $227 with the entertainment coupon.

Alamo just dropped their rate too! I just booked for Aug.10-20th-10 days for $270 base rate minus $25 coupon for an SUV! My total comes to $317with taxes etc.!

My National rate has gone up the last couple of days!

Must depend on where you are picking up your vehicle and the
type of vehicle requested.

National rates keep going down -
at least for my week (aug 12-19)

My rate was $248 total

On Wed 07/28 weekly rate for intermediate went to $228.95 and today it dropped to $185

My bottom line is now $218.33 ($30 less than original res)for one week intermediate with WEBK rate code and 6600330 contract - I do not have a coupon so it could even be lower.

Weird part is that if you try to modify the res it won't change. I had to make new res and cancel old one.

Great rate! What code / coupon are you using? Thanks.

I just checked rates for my week (10/23-30) and they were up about $15.

With my first ressie I was able to use the Priceless code and the WWEB code and was not charged the concession fees, but this time when I entered both codes I was charged all of the fees. Now if you would take away those fees I would have a lower rate.....any suggestions?

Nationalcar.com can be quirky (actually I read that at mousesavers.com)

Keep trying.

Did you sign in to EA? To get 10% plus the concession fee discount you have to do this.

try the WWEB code and all the contract ID's

good luck.

I find the WWEB always makes my rate go up and I always leave that spot blank. It's best, IMHO, to leave it blank and let National put that in if it applies.

bg4,

I can't seem to get the lower rate you have. It keeps coming up at $241.95 base rate.

Help,
Mary

the product rate id WWEB from 8/22 - 11/22

will kick in a base rate of 175$ for an intermediate ( other car classes will have different base rate, you can check it out on National's website under the Specials to Go! -- Plan Ahead and Save)

then, whatever discounts you have access too will lower the rate even more....eg contract ids and/or coupons

What are dates?

I am using the Entertainment rate code J1 which also shows up as @A sometimes! It gives a great rate for SUVs...but not for other autos! I am also using an entertainment coupon!
