Keep your ADR number with you!

I was thinking about this and wondered if someday they might produce QR codes to use in place of or in conjunction with ADR numbers. It's easy to transpose digits, etc, but if there was the QR code option that's kind of hard to mess up, assuming it's not deleted by the system.

I have a neat app on my iPhone called "Mouse Memo" that lets me store all my info and confirmation numbers for an entire trip including airlines, resort and dining. It's nice to have it all in one spot!

I'm going to have to remember that one for our trip. I usually have everything printed out and in my backpack. That would be nice to eliminate at least 1 piece of paper (or 2 or 3).

What does it accomplish? Why post someone's mistake here? Are you trying to get a free meal?

Ummmm, no. Simply trying to let people know that if you do not keep your information with you there is a chance that they may try to turn you away.

I see this as an individual CM mistake, not that they didn't have your ADR on the list. He scrolled down too much on his computer screen so he couldn't see your ADR anymore or am I missing something in your post?
I wouldn't have been that frustrated, especially not to post on here about it since I'm sure it was rectified quickly. Maybe annoyed for a few minutes, but not to post on here when I came back, but thats just me. Glad you enjoyed your meal. We always have a great meal there.

I also get the confirmation numbers at the hotel we are staying at....when we arrive...I ask for them to print them out....and they do...so double confirmations ...theirs and ours...

Then go to the restaurant and if they have any issue you have some more paperwork to show them

I use an app on my iPhone called kayak. All you do is forward your ADRs, flight info, hotel reservations etc. to trips at kayak.com. They interpret the reservation and make and itinerary with reservation numbers that you can view in the app.

Unfortunately it can happen that an ADR gets missing. Having your confirmation can greatly help in getting seated quicker than looking up by name. It is a good reminder to others. Thanks OP for the reminder. I printed mine off today.

I never go without my ADR number. I have a full spreadsheet that i've made over the years for each trip, but I've never had to use it for the ADR number. Its more to remind me/know which TS & time than for the ADR number. But this was not the case or the reason for the OP original post though.

It seems to me that if they are going to begin charging us for no-shows at a number of restaurants, they will have to step-it-up with the accuracy of their reservation system.

I completely agree! Many times on past trips we've not been on their list, we show them our confirmation number and sometimes they find it...sometimes they don't and just add us to the list and we are seated. HOWEVER, what will happen if they don't find that ADR and therefore the system will automatically CHARGE you for a no show, when in fact you're seating there eating but only because they added you manually. I've never cared much how they found/added my reservation so long as I was seated, but now I'm going to have to be quite diligent in being sure that my ADR # is cleared so that we're not charged both for the meal and for "no show".

There have been a couple of posts on this and other forums that the no show system is not only automatic but timed. Several people have spoken of being a few minutes late (as little as 5 minutes) and while they still are seated they later discover that they were charge no show AND meal fees. Being automatic also means that you won't be able to sweet talk the manager or CM into cancelling it earlier in the day either (something that many have said they would try if the decided early on that they weren't going to be able to go that night).

I'm kinda glad our next trip isn't until next fall.....hopefully all these bugs can be worked out (or better yet they dump this whole silly thing)....otherwise I think I'm going to be staying offsite and eating more offsite. It's getting horribly complicated for a vacation if you can't even be 5 minutes late. I can remember many times arriving on time, but there being a long line to check in....so that now makes ME late and charged? Ugh

Oh, Robin that sucks, at least you found it.

Luckily in 14 trips, we have never had that happen, but I always go prepared. This time, we have alot of reservations, so I have an app on my EVO and my Ipod and I will also have them written down somewhere.

In the past, I like to pay my tip in cash, so I make up envelopes for each restaurant and write the restaurant name and the confirmation # on the front, then put my tip money in there, each day, I pull the envelopes for that day out of the safe and stick them in my purse/backpack and have it ready just in case. Doing that eliminates alot of problems.
