Keep trying, or go offsite?

Well, I did not call on thursday, like I should have. When I called friday morning I was told by CM that there are no AP rates for ANY RESORT available for our date. We are staying at OKW with rented DVC points, but the problem is, we are arriving a day earlier than we had planned originally and need a place to stay that first night, saturday Oct. 11th. We have and Illuminations Cruise for that night, so want to stay somewhere close. Don't want to pay rack rates, though. Was looking forward to a quick, cheap night at All Star Music, Movies or Sports.

Is there any sense in trying CRO later for an AP rate? Or should we just bite the bullet and stay offsite this first night?

But I can't imagine they would be too bad. As a close by alternative, I would suggest a hotel at DTD. Lots of them have good rates to be had just by doing a little research. You might even try Priceline for a four star and end up at the Hilton, Wyndham, or sometimes even the Swan or Dolphin. I have seen people getting these hotels through Priceline for under $60.00 a night sometimes.

Whatever you choose, enjoy your stay! OKW is wonderful.

Check out mousesavers.com. They have reviews of preferred hotels, which include DTD. You can get a great rate using the "mousesavers" code. We've stayed at the Caribe Royale, which is 1-1/2 miles from WDW and has scheduled shuttle service (although we didn't use it). Fantastic pool area, including slide, and very nice accommodations. I would stay there again if I couldn't get a WDW resort.

Don't know your budget, but have you tried the Swan or Dolphin? They have many specials and are great resorts. They have AAA, entertainment rates, AP rates and some special rates posted on their website that come out periodically.
