Keep or Take Back Disney Dream Sketcher?

Oh, no. I hope I (and the kids) won't be disappointed. I just got back from Target and paid $29.98 for the Disney Dream Sketcher- I got the Mickey one since I have both a girl & boy. I picked up the last three cartridges that they had (Cinderella, Toy Story, & Incredibles) for 7.48 each. I have a DD4.5 & DS2.5 and neither of them even know about this Dream Sketcher- at least they never brought it up to me. I was planning on surprising them and pulling it out on the airplane on the way to Disney in two weeks. We already have the My first Leapad that I was also going to pack so that they can switch on the plane.

Am I making a mistake by keeping it? Or should I just go ahead and return it and go with "Plan B" for airplane entertainment? (We just went in September and my Plan B worked out great.) Thoughts?

take it back or sell it on ebay. The reviews are horrible for it.

We got it and my son loves it! He is only 3 1/2 and doesn't have a leapster to compare it too or a pocket v-smile. So I can't compare graphics etc, He has the Toy story and nemo cartridges and plays both. I think they would be an excellent game for an airplane or car. Keep it! They will enjoy it!

FYI - remember the reset button on the back with the pen if it get's loopy.

I think for the ages of your kids and the price you paid for it.... keep it. At that age your kids aren't going to know what graphics are let alone if they are good or not. :)

I was able to find one for $15. I picked it up for my two year old even though the reviews weren't that great. He loves Mickey Mouse and always wants to "play" with his big brother's leapster. I think he will get $15 worth of enjoyment out of it.

I was able to find one at Target for $15 too. We're giving it to our daughter's 5th b-day at the end of the month. I'm a little worried about it, but for the price I was willing to bite the bullet on it. I'm actually wondering if I should get some cartridges for it too? The way the reviews and markdowns on the product have been I'm thinking that it may not be on the market for long.

If you keep it, just be prepared for it not to work and possible tears from the kids about it. I got one for my DD7, a Princess one at Target for $14.98, and the thing worked for about 5 mins. I thought maybe it was the batteries I had in my closet were old since I combined a few (and it takes 6)! I bought new batteries and brought them home and changed them out and it didnt work AT ALL! My DD picked up the thing and shook it a bit and it did come on, but only for literally 2 1/2 mins. She was in tears at this point because she did play with it for 5 mins the day before and liked it and now it wouldnt work. I read somewhere that the batteries pop up in the back and wont stay connected. I also tried to use the reset button, but no luck. The review I read also said that the toy sucked up the batteries so be prepared to take a bunch with you (if you keep it) on the off hand that it will actually work. Good luck, I hope you have better luck that I had. You might want to actually take the thing out now at home and just see if it will work for you, then if it is squirrely you can take it back without the kids even knowing about it. I just took mine and the box back to Target and no problems. I told the customer service girl the thing was defective.

I got my girls the Cinderella ones for Christmas. They love it. They are both really into arts and crafts and drawing, so they love it. We are going to DL in February, so I plan on bringing them on the plan. It probably depends on the kids. My kids have a vsmile and the older one has a leapster, but they aren't into video game like game boy and that stuff.

We haven't had any problems with them. They have worked fine so far.
