Keep my Ohana ADR?!?

We are going to WDW in 11 days and I had planned a whole week of ADR's, after reading recent reviews on Ohana I'm looking for advice. We are going for DH birthday and his first time he's worked really hard to make this trip amazing. A lot of the reviews on Ohana lately have been horrible. I've never eaten there and our reservation is on his birthday. Should we eat at Ohana or should I make other plans last minute?!?

I have had harsh words about our last dining experience at 'Ohana. It was terrible. I have to say though, that if you have never had dinner there, and you are happy with the time you have selected for dinner I would say that you keep the ADR. Dining is personal, and we may have just had a bad night. Unless you go yourself, you will never know if you wwould enjoy this experience. My family has always enjoyed 'Ohana, although it has never been my favorite, and we have never had a bad meal until last month.

I agree with Nancyg56. Reviews are very personal. We had a great meal at Ohana, and it was my DH's favorite. In fact, it's the only one he will repeat.

If you weigh the overwhelming popularity of the restaurant against the few bad reviews here, I think you can chalk those up to just a bad night, a bad server, perhaps even the timing of their visit to Ohana.

Keep your ADR. Is there a chance you'll hit one of those bad nights? Of course there is, but the same can be said for ANY restaurant, ANYwhere.

We went to Ohana last October and absolutely loved it. Similar to sharonabe's DH it is the only meal we will be repeating for our trip this year. The menu is fixed, which you can find online with pictures, so if your DH thinks he'll like the food just go and make your own informed decision. Also, the dessert is amazing, probably my favorite part of the whole meal, and you known dessert is very important for birthdays!

We went for the first time last month. I had the same hesitancy you're having but thought we needed to at least give it one try for ourselves. It was one of the best meals of our whole week. Everything was delicious. Only negative thing I have to say is we didn't save enough room for the incredible dessert! Next time I know to pace myself a little better!

We ate at O'hana this summer and had a wonderful meal, same as 2 years before. I would keep the ADR.

I hated my Ohana meal but am glad I was able to experience this restaurant and decide for myself whether the food was something I enjoyed or not. I would keep it and judge for yourself.

We just ate there last Friday and our food was very good. The chicken and shrimp were really great, I thought that steak (which I like mine rare so that could be it) was a little more done but he came back with something that was not as cooked which made me happy. I think you go and make your own opinion. Sometimes your meal/service is what you put into it too. That is why some people love McDonalds and others hate it! Hope you have as magical of a vacation as we did!

Reviews are so subjective. Our worst meal in July was at Jiko and it gets rave reviews constantly. Our Ohana dinner was wonderful. We seek out amazing restaurants and my four kids and husband are all foodies. We really don't expect spectacular food at any Disney restaurant. If you change the reservation you are guaranteed to find negative reviews on the replacement.

Thank you for all the advice everyone!! I wanted to try Ohana on my last Disney vacation 3 years ago and didn't get the chance, so I think we will keep our reservation and hope for the best!

Definitely keep it and try it out for yourself! I've read some really bad reviews too but we love Ohana!! I've heard lots of people complain about the steak too but remember- you can ask your server for it to be cooked differently. I like well done- the steak was way too undercooked for me but when I asked the server- he brought out some well done steak for me and it was great!

I'm glad you're keeping your reservation. We at at Ohana in June for the first time. It was one of our best meals of our trip. DH said we'll definitely have to do it again next time. I could have made a meal on just the salad and potstickers and would have been happy (but the other stuff was good, too.)

Same here, only substitute "Boma" for "Jiko." Most posters here love Boma, we did not. We were concerned about Ohana as well, but really enjoyed- and this was only a week ago. Keep it! Don't overthink it, you can always try other restaurants next time

We were just there 4 weeks ago and absolutely loved O'Hana. It was our favorite meal of the trip. We were 5 adults (2 of them are picky adults) and 2 kids under 4. The service, atmosphere and food was wonderful. Added this dinner to our must do for the next trip!

Keep it. You will find bad reviews for every restaurant. Ohana is one of our favorites.

Keep it! Ohana is yummy! The salad and dessert alone make the meal, the rest is just an awesome bonus. Another huge won for us are the noodles. DS loves Lo Mein and had a peanut allergy so we don't get to eat that style noodle often. He will make a meal out of the noodles and I am thrilled to see him enjoy a safe meal.

DH loved Ohana last trip so I made a ressie for our upcoming Xmas trip, but now it will just be me, Mom and DS dining that day and none of us eat enough to justify it in my opinion so we may try somewhere new just to experiment. But Ohana is a great experience and great view for the fireworks, just be prepared to wait a long time for a table!
