if you have booked a stay on-site, it really DOES pay to keep checking the rates. last night, on a whim, i looked up prices for my trip--which is NEXT WEEK (!!!!) i found that i could book portofino for only $20 more per night than my current reservation at Royal Pacific (story of why i wanted to do this follows). i called and the extremely helpful woman was able to make the change for me. when i booked the trip, it would have been $80 per night more, which is why we booked RPR.
the story (i need to share because i'm so excited...)
my husband really REALLY wanted to stay at portofino (he liked the idea of a quiet pool--we plan to spend a lot of time in the sun with drinks) but i convinced him to let me book royal pacific to save money. he was bummed--but it was a difference of $400, so he went along with it. now i've changed the resort for only $80 more total--and i haven't told him! it will be surprise when he gets there! i'm going down five days before him to do disney with my mom, so i'm hiring a car to pick him up at the airport and take him to portofino. i'm hoping he'll be more excited than confused!
