We are headed to Universal next Thursday for the first time. I just read about the lockers at some of the rides... will I be able to keep my DSLR camera with me? I'd like to get pictures of the queues of FJ for sure... maybe a few others. Just curious if they let you do this or not. TIA!

As long as you don't try to ride with the camera you will be fine. Otherwise you will be directed to the lockers.

Is there a place to put the camera before you get on the ride? Not really sure on what could be done with it???

If you want to ride, you will have to stow the camera in the lockers before you enter the queue. There is no place at the loading area to do this. So...you are going to have to go through the line to takes pictures and then go through it again if you want to ride...you can't do both at the same time.

I always keep my camera and just put in my pocket when I get on the ride. It has never been an issue.

The OP is talking about a DSLR camera, that would be hard to fit in any pocket. TM says, " Are you really happy to be at Universal and ride, or is that your camera in your pocket".:rotfl2:

Yes, I normally carry I small point and shoot camera on the rides.

Ohhh! Turning red :) I have no idea what that kind of camera is! I'm one of the technology disadvantaged!

Sometimes the attendants will also let you exit the line before load to stow your camera in the locker and then go back up the exit to ride without going through the line twice. Just explain what is going on to them.

I would not give that info out. Belongings are to be stored in lockers prior to getting in line. No where does it say we will let you come back up the exit if you forget to use the lockers. Sometimes when it's slow if someone did not follow directions they might let you do that as a courtesy.:thumbsup2

Agree..they don't do it all the time .If they did the lines would go nowhere

They will be asking all along the line if you are riding or not, and directing you to the lockers if you say you are...so to make it to the end of the line with your camera you'll be having to not tell the truth to each TM...

Just a small note, especially with carrying things in your pockets for FJ... it does twist and turn a lot, as well as quickly go upside down several times. I had my sunglasses tucked into my shirt collar and my boyfriend had my phone in my pocket. During the ride I had to hang onto my sunglasses since they almost fell out, and after the ride my boyfriend told me he had to snatch my phone in mid air because it slipped out of his pocket. Just a small warning!

Thanks everyone for the info. I have a small waterproof camera that I'll take with me through the line then (there's a wriststrap attached so I'll make sure to have that on before we get on the ride). We're at Disney now and headed to Universal for the first time on Thursday. Very excited!

I'm thinking that the TMs will see that and either ask you to either put it away in your pocket or return to the lockers.

Isn't there some kind of small stowage area in the back of the seat? I cannot recall and it isn't discussed much if there is.

You can store your camera, phone, or any other small items in the back of the seat. Before you sit down on FJ on the lower part of the seat you'll see a square outline with a small handle you can pull. Pull it down, drop your items, and sit down. There's not much time since people load and unload so quick, but if you're just dropping your camera in there, you'll be fine, just don't forget it when your leaving lol. Also, take a shirt with you, or something soft, to wrap the camera. If not, your camera will be jumping around in the small compartment and may get damaged.

Just to clarify.. FJ doesn't go upside down. :wave2:

Correct.

I would not use the seat storage on FJ. There is really not enough time to use it.:thumbsup2

I said to talk to the tm and explain. Most are nice no matter what many believe. I'm not saying to try to sneak in with the camera. Sometimes people don't realize that you can do things if you just only talk to people and ask. But you are right. Never ask a tm that. That is a :sad2:
