Kaye's Trip To Goalville (Comments Wanted!)

Kaye--I hope your trip to Georgia will a rewarding one. I know the memories can be bittersweet, but I hope your family will be a comfort in the hard times.

Let us know how the Kashi granola bars are.

Thank you all so much for the support :grouphug: It means so much to me. Your posts brought tears to my eyes and I'll think of them next week when I feel overwhelmed to remind me food won't make the feelings go away. :goodvibes:
OK about the Kashi Granola Bars! OH MY GOSH! :hyper: They are so yummy! Granola Bars Over the past two days I have had both the chocolate peanut butter one and the caramel one! They are so good! I highly suggest them and I have the lemon one waiting for me to try next. :)
I got DH the higher points ones that are bigger I can't think of the name but they are a different line than the crunchy ones - I put it in his lunch today and the first thing he told me today when he got home was how good it was. :teeth:
As for the exercise  I somehow talked myself into not going. I have really got to get myself in gear. I feel like I have tried everything - writing it down, leaving out my gym clothes so everything's ready when I get home, it seems no matter what I do I find a reason not to go. I was sure the gym membership would cure the excuses but alas it hasn't happened. I know I have to make it a routine - once that happens it will be natural to me and I won't think twice about rather to go but I'm struggling right now with getting to that point. I'll keep at it though and know I'll get there soon. ::yes::
On a good night I was OP and got in all my water so a good day food wise!
Thank you again for all of your kind thoughts it means so much to me. ::yes:: :grouphug:

The time will come when your body actually craves exercize! I am really starting to love that feeling!!! You are doing such a good job!

I am glad you can ifnd the support you need here! :grouphug:

kaye--just coming to say hi!! hope everything is going well
i will come back and check in with you next week

Hi Everyone! :wave2: Well another day OP! :cool1: Got in my waters, fruits, and veggies and I'm feeling good about my weight it seems to be on a downward trend - FINALLY! I am a scaleaholic and weigh when I wake up and go to bed and log it in my food journal just to get a sense of the patterns my weight takes. So far I've liked being able to go back and look to see what my weight normally does between Thursday and my weigh in on Sunday for example. No exercise today but had some errands so today wasn't a planned day. I think part of my mind is already in vacation mode. I know that when I get back from my dad's I've REALLY got to get serious with the exercising if I want to get to my goal in mid summer and belive me I do!! To add to the dieting landmine I have spoke of on occasion the past week I found out tonight that we are going out to dinner on Tuesday night for an annual steak dinner with friends for "Fat Tuesday". We've done it for years and I totally forgot for some reason. The choices are steak and steak  so I guess I'll be having steak. :teeth: I'll just do my best and cut calories and points where I can (like the bread basket). Have to keep a positive attitude and remember that life happens and I can choose to pig out and go off plan or have something that might not be the best for my plan but not overdo it. The next week is going to be a true test of my willpower. Wish me luck :teeth:

Good luck!!! :shamrock: You will do great! I have no doubt about it! Happy Friday! :cool1:

Hi Kaye--There's nothing wrong with lean steak. Only eat half of it and take the rest home. Have a salad and some veggies too. You could also opt for chicken or fish. There are tons of steak places around here, and all of them have non-steak items.

Another day OP! :cool1: I got in all my waters and fruits but only had 2 veggies . Will do better with that tomorrow. ::yes:: I have officially decided to change my goal (for now) from 144 to 149. At 149 I will officially be "normal" and I think that's a good goal to work towards and then decide if I want to go further. So overnight I am 5 lbs closer to goal  I was so proud of how our healthy living has really taken hold when I was grocery shopping tonight. I have always heard you shop the perimeter (sp?) of the store as that's where all the healthy foods are. Well tonight I went down only ONE aisle other than the organic one. I like seeing my cart filled with things that I can eat and not worry about. Tonight the cashier actually asked if we were vegetarians (fish, veggie crumbles, etc.) we told her no and she said that we must eat mostly organic though which I guess is pretty much true as of late and I was proud of our progress over the past few years when I stopped to think about it. I have found organic foods to really taste SO much better. I got an organic spaghetti sauce to try last week and it is phenomonal! I like knowing I'm making a point of eating foods that are better overall for me. The cashier also mentioned we must really like Kashi Granola Bars  I don't even know how many of them I bought  They were low on all of them so I bought most of the ones they had. I am stocking up so I can take them on my trip as well. I thought that would be a great snack for when the pretzals and soda come around but much more filling. :) Well those are my musings for the day. Still no exercise but I am just going to commit to myself that when I come back I will work on that part as well. I know I need to do more than change my eating patterns and if I want to run that 5K I have to start moving. :) Have a great Friday night everyone. :)

Hi Kaye :wave2: I just wanted to pop in and tell you how much I enjoyed your journal. I love the Kashi cereals, and I will definitely have to try the granola bars! Congrats on being 5 pounds closer to your goal!!! :rotfl: Woo-Hoo!!! As for the point distribution throughout the day - I try to have just under half left for dinner and snack. I am a scaleaholic, too! It has really helped me figure out how different foods affect my body, but I have to be careful not to let that number determine my mood for the day! It sounds like you are doing great, though! :cheer2: I will be praying for you as you go home next week! It sounds like you have a plan to deal with the stress - I'm sure you will be fine on the eating, and I hope you have a wonderful time with your family! :grouphug:

Well? Did you try one yet?? I saw the Kashi Granola bars at Walmart but they didn't have a very big selection - just 4 different kinds. My stomach has been 'off' the last two days so I haven't tried one yet, but the curiosity is killing me! LOL!

You are developing great habits Kaye!! Keep it up! :cool1:

Hi Terry - The Granola Bars are really good. There are two different kind and I like the "crunchy" line better but DH likes the other ones better so I guess it's a matter of taste. :) I think they only make 3 different ones of the Crunchy line - a lemon/lime one, a caramel popcorn and chocolate one, and a peanut butter and chocolate one. I haven't tried the lemon/lime yet but the other two are fabulous. ::yes:: I actually saw some at Target tonight and stocked up on the peanut butter and chocolate as my grocery store only had one of those left yesterday. They must be popular as I was looking around the Kashi site and noticed in their store that those were backordered until 2-18. Glad I got several today. ::yes::
Today was to be the buffet dinner but alas it wasn't too be. I only got a temporary reprieve but with weigh in tomorrow I'm happy with that. :) We got there at 4:00 with FIL and the line was all the way to the entrance  It's a "seat yourself" place and with no open tables it would easily be an hour wait. We decided to come back on Monday night for dinner. I had a good plan so I'll just use it then. :) I've been OP today and actually have quite a lot of points to use up as I was saving most of them for dinner tonight and the dinner I cooked (spaghetti with veggie crumbles and f/f spaghetti sauce) was only 8 points. That's always a nice problem to have :teeth: Again no exercise but I did shop - does that count?
Tomorrow night is my first real test since starting WW - A Super Bowl Party! Wish me luck. I know I'll have things I dont' normally eat now but I'm going to try and keep it sensible. I have all my flex points so I should be ok. :)
Have a great Sunday everyone :sunny:

Hello Kaye! Looks like you're doing a great job! Keep up the good work:)

Those Kashi bars sound good, I'll have to try them out! I know what you mean about the Super Bowl tomorrow. It's going to be a rough day. My husband has to work till 10:30, so I'm taping it for him so we'll watch it when he gets home and I plan on making us some food in honor of it, like a taco meal and some potato skins. I'm going to work out extra hard tomorrow and the next day to make up for eating such bad food late at night:)

You'll do great at the Party!!! Keep water handy and be moderate! Have a great time! :flower:

Hi Everyone :wave2: Sorry I've been MIA this week. It's been so hectic and I have just had no time to post. I leave tomorrow for my trip to see my dad which I am looking forward to. :) They (my brother and dad) have only seen pictures of my weight loss but none of the rest of my family knows about it so that should be fun to see their reactions. :) I have had a lot of eating "challenges" this week from the Super Bowl, to a buffet dinner, to a dinner out with friends lat night. I was pretty happy with how I did. Not perfect but definitely not too bad. Today I've been OP and I plan to do my best while I'm on vacation but not to stress about slip ups. ::yes:: And I'll be OP and exercising with a vengenace when I return. :teeth: Have a great week everyone! See you next week! :wave2:

Hi Kaye,

I know that you will wow your family this week. Have a safe journey. I know it will be an emotional time, but I hope you have a good time.

See you in a week,
Beth
