I just got back Thursday night from a wonderful week at WDW. My friend Helen was with me for most of the trip, although I was solo the last couple of days. I had made several PSs before the trip, but we only kept a couple of them, choosing to eat counter service for most of our meals. Im a vegetarian (ovo-lacto) but Helen eats meat and I am including a few reviews of her meals here too.
Dolphin Fountain: We had a very late lunch here on our first day after checking into the Swan. We both had Boca veggie burgers and chips. They were pretty good, but nothing outstanding. This is a good place to have a quick meal, and I know from previous visits that the ice cream is very good, but I wouldnt go out of my way to eat here.
Since we had such a late lunch, we skipped our dinner PS at Liberty Tree Tavern, having cookies and hot chocolate during MVMCP for dinner.
Columbia Harbour House: This is my favorite MK counter service restaurant. I like to eat upstairs where its quiet and never crowded. I had vegetarian chili, which Ive had here several times and always enjoy. This time I had a lighthouse sandwich (hummus with tomato & broccoli slaw) with it, and it was delicious. Helen had clam chowder with an anchors aweigh sandwich (white tuna with lettuce and tomato) and she said both were very good.
Aloha Isle: A Dole Whip is one of the highlights of my MK visits I absolutely love them!
Earl of Sandwich: I had a Caprese sandwich (sliced mozzarella, roma tomatoes, and basil drizzled with virgin olive oil) and a fruit salad. Helen had an All American sandwich (turkey, buttermilk ranch dressing, cranberries, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato) and chips. We both thought our sandwiches were fantastic. The bread they use for their sandwiches is delicious. This was one of the best meals of the trip.
ABC Commissary: I had read mixed reviews of this restaurant so I was a little hesitant to try it, but Im really glad we did. We both had tabbouleh wraps, and they were very good.
50s Prime Time: This was my first time here, and it was really a lot of fun. Cousin Jan was our server, and she was very funny without being over the top. I had the stuffed peppers because that was the only vegetarian selection available. The peppers were overcooked, and the rice and ratatouille stuffing was too greasy, but I chose this meal more for the theming than for the food so I didnt really mind. Helen had the meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes, and she said it was very good.
Electric Umbrella: I had a veggie burger and substituted pineapple coleslaw for the fries. The veggie burger was pretty good and the pineapple coleslaw was delicious. Helen had a turkey sandwich with pineapple coleslaw. She liked the coleslaw but thought the sandwich was just okay.
Tangierine Café: This was my first time eating here. I had a vegetarian platter (tangerine couscous salad, hummus, tabbouleh and marinated olives). Helen had a lamb shawarma platter with hummus, tabbouleh and tangerine couscous salad. Everything we had was very, very good.
Fountainview Café: We had most of our breakfasts in the room or on the run, but we were hungry one morning in Epcot, and we wanted a decent cup of coffee, so we stopped by Fountainview Café. I had coffee here before, and I know that they advertise that they serve regular Nescafe coffee that is served everywhere else at WDW, but for some reason it tastes better here. I had a fruit bowl with my coffee, and Helen had a bagel and coffee. It was really good for a light breakfast.
Boulangerie Patisserie: I adore this restaurant for a quick counter service meal in Epcot. I was very pleased to find that they were serving a spinach and tomato quiche, which I had not seen here before. It was so, so good! I also had a strawberry tart, which I have pretty much every time I eat here (at least once each trip). Yum! Helen had a salmon quiche and chocolate croissant, and she said both were very good.
Biergarten: We had dinner here for our CP package. I chose this restaurant because the theming sounded fun, but I really didnt have much hope of finding a wide vegetarian selection. Well, I was wrong! This meal was one of the highlights of the trip. There was a wide selection of cold salads to choose from (the tomato salad was my favorite), potato dumplings (delicious), spatzle (yum!), glazed carrots, macaroni and cheese, pretzel bread, apple strudel, vanilla pudding and Florentine cookies. There were other selections I couldve had, but I was too full to eat any more. Everything I had was very, very good. I will definitely be eating here again. Helen tried quite a few different items also, and she liked everything she tried.
Cantina de San Angel: I had dinner here on a solo day. I ordered nachos with no beef, and they were very good and filling. The nachos were topped with cheese, tomatoes, black beans, jalapenos, and sour cream.
Express Restaurant: This is a brand new counter service restaurant in Innoventions West. I ate lunch here on Wednesday, December 22, the second day that it was open. The CM said they would be open through the holidays and then would stay open while Sunshine Season Food Fair is closed for renovation. I had vegetarian chili, which was decent but not as good as the chili at Columbia Harbour House.
Tangierine Café: I ate here for the second time on my last solo night. This time I had the tabbouleh wrap, which was very, very good.
ESPN Club: I had lunch here before leaving for the airport. I had a grilled Portobello sandwich with fries, and it was delicious. The vegetables were grilled perfectly, and the roll was soft and very good. I had never been here before, and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
