Kayaks and HHI

If we brought our own kayaks to HHI, is there a place around Shelter Cove that we could get them into the water?

Yes, there is a launch ramp at the top of the cul-de-sac beside building 31 leading into the waterway where the tour folks actually store some of their kayaks and other equipment. I believe there is also a ramp leading down to the docks in the marina in front of building 28 that you could launch from as well. I would think it would be fine to use either of these areas for launching your own kayaks but it would be best to call the resort ahead of time and verify it.

Yes. We bring our own kayak but be sure to secure it. We had something stolen this year we were storing in our kayak.

Great! Did you have special locks to lock down your kayaks? So glad to hear there are a couple of launches. This is our new hobby and will actually take our first kayak tour in September in PA. I'm hoping to purchase our own before we head to HHI next May. For those that have kayaked at HHI, would you still do the tour there to get familiar with the waters?

No special lock. It would have been easy to take the kayak too.
