DH and I will be going to VB in February. Just the two of us this time, since both of our kids are now in college. We would like to go kayaking at some point during the week, and was wondering what the best way to do this would be. I know that Disney offers kayaking excursions but haven't found much feedback as to whether or not these are worthwhile trips. I know there are also independent companies that do kayaking trips in the area. I would love to hear experiences on either of these types of trips. Trying to decide if I should have something booked before we leave or just wait and go through Disney. Thanks!

We are in Vero now and went Kayaking in the Indian River today. It was great. We have our own kayaks, and have never done the Disney trip, but our friend did and really enjoyed it. When he went, they went to Round Island Park, just south of Vero. we have kayaked there. it is pretty, and we always see manatees, and sometimes dolphins. orchid Island kayaks rents kayaks and will deliver them to the Indian River if you want to explore on your own.

I like the Indian River for kayaking. The views are great, lots of jumping mullet, manatees, and dolphins....and except for where the Intercoastal Waterway runs through it, it is generally 3-5 feet deep in most places.

Thanks, and enjoy the rest of your trip!:)
