Has anyone done the Disney kayaking excursion in Key West? How was it and how much of the excursion is spent getting there? Thanks!!

Sueoz,

Below is part of a posting on the Key West excursions in the locked thread on Western Excursions near the top of the board.

Back to Nature Kayak Tour (10 years & up)
This naturally appealing excursion starts with a comfortable boat ride to
the Wildlife Refuge, where uninhabited islands are scattered like pirate's
treasure in the sparkling waters of Florida Bay. After guests board their 2
person kayak, they will be guided through the reserve as the guide points
out the native birds, marine life and plants that can be spotted along the
way. Water and soft drinks are provided.

Guests are taken directly from the pier to the Wildlife Refuge via boat.
Boat ride to the Wildlife Refuge is approximately 30 minutes
Guests kayak for approximately 1 hour
Cost per person: $59.00 10 yrs & up
Meet 12:20 pm, lasts 3 hours

This was originally posted in spring. I too am wondering about this trip as we're seriously considering it. When are you cruising?

We are cruising Feb. 1, 2003. We do kayaking here in Massachusetts and love it. Wondered what other people have experienced on this excursion as far as scenery and wildlife are concerned.

Let's hope someone who has done that excursion let's us know. We're going June 21, 2003 - thought for a moment we might have fellow kayakers going!

I'm sure there will be, just haven't seen anyone on the boards yet. If you do go let us know how it is!

Hi this is just my thoughts ok so until someone post that has done the kayaking in KW and can convience me different, I will express my knowledge of "kayaking" in KW. First off being a native and 4 generation of conchs, I lack to see where anyone would be taken --Key West has been so under construction for a number of years now that all the beauty of the island and surrounding areas has been destroyed or no longer exist - I am wondering if only an hour long - could it be that they somehow go to Christmas Island --naw that can't be - you won't find yourself in overhanging trees as you would see on the program Discovery --there are none left unless I have missed something over the passed 67 years - I know it is offered - I believe when I go to KW, I will have to see this first hand and then I can let you know. Its funny when I first heard of Kakaying in KW, I asked my hubby Norm WHERE???????? his answer to me was beats me:D
Oh well all these tourist towns are coming up with ways to confuse you including what was one of the most beautiful Islands that I had ever grew up in - you did have swaying palms, soft breezes and beautiful waters filled with too many wild life to name.
Will keep you posted.
Always
Shirley
