kayaking in florida?

Hi
has anyone done any kayaking trips in florida. Did this on cruise last year and it was great. Looking to get any information about anywhere which is good near Orlando so dont have to travel too far.

Only thing about the places Ive seen - they keep mentioning seeing alligators and not sure about that

Any tips would be appreciated

we went here last year, there is kayaking and canoeing etc, plus its a great relaxing day out! the state park is only about 40 mins from kissimmee.

Did you have a guided kayak / canoe tour or were you left to DIY tour? We do alot of kayaking around the coast of Angelsey and although we encounter a few grey seals i don't know if i fancy eye balling a gator! did you see any and did you feel safe? (by this i mean no massive gators lurking in the under growth) Maybe i've been watching too many movies!!! What other wildlife did you encounter? i would be interested to know if you saw otters?

Thats the bit that frightens me - the website mentions aligators and ot sure if I would spend the whole time worrying!!!

I didnt do any kayaking/canoeing much to the disappointment of dh!
the gators dont bother with you, there were loads of people there on the canoes etc. on the otherside is a natural spring that you can swim in! my dh went in, again it was full of people.. I had to ask an american how would they know if there were gators in there, he said' theres too many people about for them to be there
