Going to Vero beach last week in may. Does anyone know a good place to go kayaking?

I don't remember the name of the park, but there's one south of downtown Vero Beach right off of A1A. The park in on the Indian River Lagoon and has a boat ramp and public bath rooms. We met the folks that run the kayak excursions from the resort at the park for a day trip. We were not at the resort on one of the days the kayak excursion was operated on and the resort gave us the phone number of the people that ran theirs.

You can rent a kayak at the beach. Went in June last year and kayaked all around in front of the resort. The awesome thing about it was that the sea turtles were there popping up every few minutes all around us! It is amazing how big some of them get! It was an awesome experience. Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but if you like to kayak, it is worth doing.

We went to this same place ... it was awesome! It's either a state or county park. It's been a few years, but if I remember correctly, we got the name from the front desk folks at Vero. The most memorable thing is that there were quite a few manatees around ... to the point that some even rubbed up against the edge of the kayaks! I think we were advised that it was illegal to touch them, but don't recall for sure. What I do remember is how people reacted when one would bump their kayaks, though! My family still talks about it!

The place we went kayaking at was Round Island Park West. We went 3 years ago and I had a young manatee pushing my kayak as we were heading back to the dock. It also swam upside down underneath my kayak and puts it's flipper up on the side of the kayak.

Also, if you have your own kayaks (we bring ours) you can kayak the Indian River from the parks of the Wabasso bridge or the Sebastian Inlet State Park. Also, I was told that if you want to drag your own kayaks to the beach, you can also lauch your own from the Disney beach.

The kayak trips through Disney are also good. The area has great kayaking.
