Looking to book our flights and we were looking on Kayak for the best prices and they have the "hacker" fares ...booking one way on one airline and booking another one way "return" flight from another?

Seems easy enough as long as you have both booking windows open to make sure you have seats on each flight...will save us over $300

Has anyone done this ? Is it as easy as it seems ? any disadvantages to booking one ways ?

There are no issues in booking two one way tickets instead of a round trip ticket, even on two different airlines.
I agree. I've often booked one ways on different airlines. It's not an issue.

What the airlines hate is when you book two RT fares and only use one way of each. Believe it or not, that can be less expensive than just booking one RT.

add us to the list. We do this all of the time. Sometimes one airline has better prices, sometimes its all about the time of when the flight is offered!
