~ Kate Plus Eight ~

Did everyone enjoy the shows? I did. I thought they were better than the last ones, and I enjoyed watching the kids at home. The chicken part was much better than I thought it was going to be. The kids are cute, as they go looking for eggs. Guess the rooster wasn't a good idea and I'm glad we didn't see much of that part!
I thought Kate was funny as she tried to wash the house from the ground...of course she was going to get wet LOL. I understand how she liked watching the dirt just disappear..those washers are great.
I am really excited about the trees that went in..good for her, to finally try to block the front of the house from the paps.

It was nice to see the kids more in these two episodes but I was frustrated to hear Kate keep saying things like...it's all on me and also her getting frustrated with the kids not doing what she wanted. They are kids!!!

My question is how long will she keep the chickens? Who is going to go stomping up that hill when the snow flies????

Yeah, I watched. You know I had softened somewhat towards Kate, but after last night, NOPE, she is back to her same old (female dog) self.

OK after last night's episode I had a few thoughts...

Kate is very unpleasant. I did not think she was as harsh on the last episode but this one she was tough. When she told the water guy to get his stuff off of the counter, she looked really bad. I totally understand not wanting stuff on the counter while you are making lunch but asking politely would have worked just as well.

The house seems so much larger than I thought it was! It really is a beautiful house with great land.

The kids are adorable as ever, poor Collin when he went to find Kate to ask her about "bumping" over the hose. They are really good kids considering everything that has happened in the past year or so. (Except Mady, she can be quite a handful).

Excuse me for this one BUT it really does look like Kate had a b00b job. I don't know why it (or should I say they) were so apparent to me last night but they definitely did not look like that on Jon and Kate plus 8!!

I thought the same thing as a PP, how long are those chickens going to last?

I love Collin, he is so sweet.

I agree with the man testing the water she was incredibly rude to him, there was no excuse for it. She could have politely asked his go get his tools off of the counter, she was back to same old Kate last night. It reminded me of how she was when she was still with Jon. She seemed to change her "spots" after Jon left and she wanted to look good in public, but leopard can't change his spots, she is proof of that. I was ready to smack her silly.

I just got through watching it (tivo) and really enjoyed it.

The chickens surprised me...I thoought it'd be a fiasco but since she had chickens when she was a kid, she was more prepared than I was expecting. Makes sense if you are buying that many eggs a week! Hopefully the kids will continue to care for them and gather the eggs.
Their dinner was fun although I'm like Mady and would not enjoy all that egg stuff. Egg salad is just about the grossest food on the planet to me!

I thought it was sweet when Cara said We are appreciative of you making us dinners like this. She seems like such a delight while Mady continues to be Mady. She and I would go round in circles and she's gonna be one rough teenager, imho.

Watching them all fill that chicken water jug was something. We do not know how long they were actually trying to get it all to work or how the rest of the day had been going. Does she say things she shouldn't if she were the perfect mom on camera? She sure does, have I ever been frustrated like that? uh, yeah, worse, even. :(

She explained to the water filtratration guy that she had issues with her kitchen and other things...I'm sure he's heard stuff like that before. I would have had issues but I probably wouldn't have said anything, just grinned and beared it. He was interesting, lol.

The pressure washing I could totally relate it. I, too, could do that all day because I'd love the instant clean and would be in my own little world getting that job done. I thought that scene was fun to watch (as far as time wasting TV reality shows go, lol)

Loved the maintenance book. Smart idea to keep track of it all. I have those organizational tendencies also so I could also relate to that nice binder. I have a DVC binder with a decorated cover page myself, lol.

I know she speaks of being alone and doing it alone quite often. I think it just is what it is. My sister is separated (after 34 yrs.) and I'm hearing that from her quite often (daily) right now too. She has 4 kids.

No, I didn't like the shows. Granted I did not watch every minute. She behaved horribly. How are those kids so sweet? I hope the show bombs to get the kids off the air. She is so critical of them and rude on camera. Mady was quite the diva; a real chip off the old block. Kate just doesn't come off as very intelligent. She has no emotional intelligence. She kept saying it's hard for her to believe "it's all up to her"; referring to household chores and maintenance, but she always has a crew of people. Her tight tanks were riduculous for work, but definitley showed off her assets. She still has the kids in high chairs and drinking out of cups with lids. She "made" egg salad, deviled eggs and egg custard for dinner knowing that Mady doesn't like eggs. Kate is always the same. Shutting the kids outside (door in faces basically) while Colin was asking permission to drive over the hose was sad. "I'm getting your popsicles and snacks" door closed. They don't go in the house without permission. One asked to go in and use the bathroom. Colin being so persistant on asking at 6 to do something so mundane seemed sad to me too. They are walking on eggshells around Mom. No pun intended.

I loved it. If the trees are not in I'm guessing they will go in this fall. You can not plant them in the summer. DH said now we know what she is doing with the DWTS money...it is going to be a fortune to do it.

She is very insecure about being alone IMO.

I had to laugh at the lunch she served them. 1/2 of a sandwich isn't enough for those kids especially all that outside playing and running around. Yes I know she gave them fruit and told them they could have more of it, but she sure didn't say they could have another sandwich. My 9 year old would starve to death on what she feeds them, and no he isn't fat, in fact he is pretty thin. Also he is way smaller than Maddy and Cara and they are a little older than he is.

I do think the older ones are starting to see what a crack pot their mother is, I saw some crazy looks being shot her way. Also when Kate was screaming about "it is like dealing the kindergartners, Cara said they ARE kindergartners. I have always liked Care, but I am starting to like Mady. I sure hope she gives Kate a run for her money, Someone actually needs to stand up to her. She was positively horrible on last nights episodes.

OK- here goes,.... I tried, I really did but I agree with some others that Kate is the same old Kate.

Quote of the night "I am in charge and that's never going to change, so shush!!"

They go through 3 dozen eggs a day- how is that possible???

I also thought it was interesting that she said whoever disobeys will be the one who has to clean it and that it is very nasty.....

Collin loves to have a purpose and a job, well I guess Kate will exploit that over the next 10 years since she is all alone and has 26 acres to care for all on her own.

She thinks she has gotten better with her nuance stuff?? Really????

Is it just me or does it seem like she is trying to cut back on costs, the eggs, the water filters etc.

Glad she finally wants the kids to have privacy when they are playing outside.... too bad she doesn't realize that the TV cameras are also taking away from their privacy as well. Although it was a cameraman that was there to make sure Collin didn't touch the hot power-washing hose!!! And it was the camera crew that she asked for help with the rooster issue... Guess she has help afterall.

OK last thought..... for someone who is so controlling, she really doesn't show any control.. Her screaming like a banshee and ridiculous complaining about being alone and taking care of everything on her own is not doing anything for her children, especially the girls. Her kids are not going to remember that she had a maintenance book, they will remember the complaining and crying and lack of control of her mouth...

I really liked the episodes - they were much more like the old Jon and Kate - just them at home. I liked the fact that she seemed to be paying for the services instead of getting them donated and turning the show into one big commercial.

The chickens were so much better than I thought they were going to be. But it makes sense - Kate has always been a practical person, a dollars and cents kind of girl. I did think it was a bit much for her to expect the cameraman or whoever she was addressing to get the henpecked rooster out of the coop - sure it was probably disgusting, but just because he's the nearest guy around doesn't mean she should use them whenever something gross comes up. And I guess I don't understand the whole chicken/egg thing - wouldn't a rooster fertilize the eggs they want to eat anyway? I thought people with chicken coops didn't get roosters? We'll see how long they last, but she did talk to them about where they would go in the winter, so it seems she has put a lot of thought into it and it isn't just a whim for the show.

The good part about the chickens is that if they decide it's not worth keeping them on, they can be diner. Chickens are generally not pets. I learned that the hard way on my grand mil's farm. We ate Charley one Sunday afternoon :( They did show where they will go in the winter, so I guess they knew that was going to come up. I do think she might have exagerated the amount of eggs they use daily, but then I don't know if anyone in the house does a lot of baking.

I definately think Kate is being more real, instead of pretending. That thing about the tools being put on her counter...many I would not have been happy about that. Couldn't he see there was food being prepared there? It's like when people come into my home and set their pocketbooks on my table..yuck, that thing has been all over different floors. I have no problem telling people to take it off the table counter.

I see on the blog that Kate made it clear that she has not had any botox. I wonder if she'll address the 'girls' there too. She did say her body has changed with all the running. I think she said 5 miles a day. Wish I was a disciplined.

The kids are so cute. She has more patience than I would have with that many kids. I loved watching them help with the chickens. And Collin is so cute. What did he say to his sister? How can you not know how you got on the other side of the hose LOL. He's such sweetie.

I did see pics of the trees in..man that must have cost a fortune. Worth every penny, I bet.

What was that guy thinking putting his tool box on the counter.:scared1: He was a real tool. I also hate when someone puts their pocketbook or keys on
my on my counter tops, it is so gross.

Collins was the little star of the show last night. I guess he will be the alpha male of the house soon.

Love how Kate dresses like a 18 year old hore! How John lasted more than a minute with her is beyond me. I feel sorry for those kids.

I agree with almost everything you said. I too was getting pretty annoyed with the "constant" whining of it's just me, it's just me, but when you think about it, it is just her (yes, I know she has help, but in the end she is the only owner to the house there, and parent to the kids at that home,) and I'm sure it's all very overwhelming. I'm married and I there are days that I whine that it's just me that does everything ect., and I only have 2 kids, so I can't imagine how overwhelming thing can get with 8 by yourself and that large of a house/land to take care of.

As far as Mady is concerned, she's definitely over-dramatic, but honestly I think she's getting better than when she was younger. I thought Kate was way too nice to her on the 1 hr. special last month with her throwing a huge fit about the birthday party. Last night I started to think that Kate should have checked Mady's attitude when she was having everyone go down to show them how to fill the water and Mady started whining, but Kate basically just ignored her and it seemed to work, as Mady did go down with everyone and we really didn't hear anymore whining from her.

I forgot to mention....WHAT are they still doing in highchairs??
How do they even fit in them anymore??

The bars are removed, so I assume she is using them as just higher chairs, so the kids can be closer to the table. Prob more comfortable for the kids than having to be on their knees to be high enough for the table.

They are six and 1/4 years old. Not 3. They are probably 4 feet tall. It is NUTS.

I'm five feet tall..I'd love a higher chair, so I'm not down in a ditch when I eat...especially at some of the booths restaurants have. She has other chairs for her table, so I guess I'll just assume it is to get the kids up higher. It's a lot more comfortable to eat when you aren't down so low, when you're short..and I think I'm short at 5 feet. Whatever works for them.
