~ Kate Plus Eight ~

I thought this was something she wanted to do..to get away from the families? At least that was what she said. I thought they were both nuts to leave the support. She's a strong person, or at least seems to be. I didn't get the feeling she was a follower.

I agree. I actually think the main reason behind the move was to get away from Bryan's family. His dad is a big bully and you know what they say the apple doesn't fall fare from the tree. But I have to say the last show I saw Bryan seemed to be mellowing. But then his parents showed up unannounced.

I don't like that show so I've only seen a couple of episodes, but I don't like either of them (probably why I don't watch the show). He seems overbearing, but she seems to seek out faults instead of dealing with an issue.

The last episode I saw was when they were looking for a house in Florida and she kept going off about the fact that the kids could drown if they got a house with a pool. Yet, they have a house with a pool right now. But instead of saying, "I don't like having a house with a pool because I have anxiety about one of the kids drowning" she turned it into accusations that he would be okay if one of the kids died.

And one episode it seemed like she had just gotten breast surgery so she was talking about how she couldn't pick the kids up. Now, if she did it conjunction with having a tummy tuck to remove the extra skin, then I understand the reasoning behind having it all together. But for a mom of 6 toddlers to purposefully have just a **** job that will mean she can't pick up her kids for a couple of months seems insane. Just wait until they're a little bit older.

I totally agree.

The house issue I think was a bayou behind them that she didn't want. But you are right, she did turn that into something ugly, I thought.

I wonder if these people (J & K and these guys) were like this before the show, or if fame and camera's made them that way :(

There is a new couple with kids on (I think quints), I believe they are Spanish, because she seems to just be learning English. They seem so sweet to each other. I wonder when it will begin to turn.

He was the one actually, yes she did want to, it was a dream for both of them. Apparaently they went through that area on vacation at one time. But Brian is the one that quit his job and went without a paycheck and trained for a new one and Jenny followed along, working the whole time.

As soon as they got moved Brian's job magically didn't start but Jenny managed to get her job going and the paycheck coming in. Brian is a waste and so is his dad, that man is horrible. If my DH ever called me stupid like Brian does Jenny, he would have to pick himself up off the floor.

Sorry, rant over, but that man burns me up.

If I recall correctly, not only the pool, and Brian had a habit of not watching them very closely, but it also had a creek in the back with nothing to protect the kids from getting in it. And what do you think of Brian calling her "stupid on mutiple occasions. She expressed her feelings, may even it they weren't justified, but he just attacked her constantly.Even my DH said he was wack and she should ditch him, that he was worthless as a father and hubby.

YOu can't be watching the same show I did. She has maybe on one occasion raised her voice to him, yet he yells and calls her names. Wow, I just don't get it. Brian is the ugly one, no way around it. Lets remember, he is the one arrested not Jenny. Maybe they should through his father in there with him, he is just as bad.

I'm watching the same show, I don't understand why you would say that:confused3. As I said, I don't like either of them. I said it way before this arrest. You are right, she doesn't raise her voice, she has other ways to get to him. They push each other's buttons, over and over. Don't think I'm sticking up for him..I'm not. I said from the first show, that they were a train wreck. Both of them.
It was plain foolish for them to move to FL where they weren't sure either would have a job, no one to watch the kids (and both sets of parents, other relatives, friends and strangers gave them lots of support). Her mom tried to guilt them into staying, but Jenny was positive this would be good for them (she was the one who said that over and over to her mom..he said it to his parents). If only they listened to the people commenting on the boards..most of us knew it was crazy. Although even if they stayed, I didn't give this marriage a chance.
They started off begging just like K & J before the kids were born. I have no problem with these people having tons of kids, but why don't they figure out how they are going to support them before they have them. Marriage is tough enough, many have money problems when the kids start coming. They are both smart people..they didn't realize what it would cost to have these kids, and not have to have TV and the train wreck that sooner or later always follows?

That's really the only reason I knew this show existed. Because The Soup makes fun of him almost killing his kids all of the time.

And like DMRick said, obviously no one deserves to be treated the way he treats Jenny. No one knows what went down to prompt the arrest, but if he was being abusive then I'm glad the police were called. The fact that he resisted arrest probably means that he was out of control at the time since he refused to go peacefully. I was just saying that I don't like either of their personalities enough to watch the show.

Kind of the same reason I've stopped watching Kate Plus Eight. Despite her Type A personality, there were parts of the old Kate that I admired. In the beginning she worked really hard to do things like feed the kids organic food on a tiny budget, and organize her modest size house to accomodate 10 people. But now that she doesn't have to do any of those things because everything is subcontracted out, the grating personality is all there is left. And I've stopped finding it entertaining.

The comment about watching the same show was because of the way you seemed to think that Jenny was acting about the house. I could be wrong and sorry if I misunderstood. I just really can't stand that guy and I would back her 100% if put up against him. I don't think Brian is a good child watcher and I think Jenny knows it and that is why she got a little freaked out and he just got nasty about it.

As far as the rest, we agree, I am sure they were begging. And yes having all of these kids and being on TV is a train wreck. I just have no tolerance for Brian at all. I think he is 99.999% to blame for most of their marriage problems. OUtside of having all of those kids, but I have a funny feeling that he would be that way regardless. I think it is his personality, not just the kids.

I think it was great that they had support, but I also understand not wanting to be around the family all the time and frankly I wouldn't allow my kids to be around Brian's father the way he acted towards Brian. I am sure he would have passed down his traits to the grandkids as well.

Jenny can be a little annoying, can't she. Also did you see the one where she stopped at the store and she was complaining about how much food was. I don't know if you saw the name of the market or even if you have them but it is called Fresh Market and it is wonderful, it is also VERY expensive, not the type place you go for regular grocery shopping and a person on a budget wouldn't go there. I have 3 kids and I very rarely go there myself, even though I love it.

What I posted about way in the begining of this show was how poorly I thought they both were about watching the kids. The first Holloween episode, I kept saying to the TV..are you kidding me? People, stop looking at the camera and watch your kids. Man, one almost fell down a little embankment. They were in the road..people..watch them. It was driving me nuts LOL.

As far as the rest, we agree, I am sure they were begging. And yes having all of these kids and being on TV is a train wreck. I just have no tolerance for Brian at all. I can't say he is 99% to blame for the marriage problems. I have no idea what percentage. I truly think that he (like the other new show and the old show) just wasn't up to having all of these kids. I think that has put a strain on both of them. She certainly bugged him a lot about his dieting, and was upset when he came home from work and she wanted him to immediately take over the kids..his argument was that he too was tired, hers was that she was tired. I thought they both were tired and maybe they should hire help.
What I've seen from the show, I think it's both of them. However if he lost control and the police couldn't control him, he deserves whatever he gets.

I think it was great that they had support, but I also understand not wanting to be around the family all the time and frankly I wouldn't allow my kids to be around Brian's father the way he acted towards Brian. I am sure he would have passed down his traits to the grandkids as well.
I don't get it..doesn't Brian's dad watch the show and see what we are seeing? Why does he agree to be on the show? That said, they really did need their family. They have no one (that we know of) to help in Florida. How could they both work? He can't do Financial stuff from home and babysit. She can't work and leave the kids on their own. What on earth were they thinking? Or maybe that's it..they weren't.

An update: Bryan Masche, 32 was charged with domestic violence while visiting family in Arizona. He yelled at and threatened his wife and another family member earlier this month at a relative's home in Camp Verde, authorities said.

His wife, Jenny Masche, told authorities the argument stemmed from marital issues and her husband wanting to take the children to Lake Havau City, where they once lived. She also said he was upset and yelled profanities in the children's presence when he became aware of her plans to visit friends in Phoenix for work reasons, according to a complaint.

The biggest comcern was his frame of mind and the fact that he wanted to take the kids, said Robin Bruno, a spokeswoman for the Camp Verde Marshal's Office.

trainwreck...I think they were this way before the show. Sadly, his "type" seems pretty common to me. :(

How many kids does Kate have?????

I ask only because it seems she thinks we all still need reminding after all these years... 8 hair cuts, 8 lunch bags, 8 backpacks, 8 pairs of shoes....

Also- is it just me or did her reaction to Hannah's haircut seem a little over the top?

Well, I was prob over the top too, when my youngest daughter got her first haircut at 10 (they didn't have locks of love at the time). It was tough. But like Kate, I got past it.

My goodness, I hated making 3 lunches, would not have liked making 8. I wonder if that was for the show, or if the school really doesn't have a lunch that could be bought. We couldn't have afforded to buy lunch when our kids were young, but I bet Kate can.

I thought this was the type of show people wanted to see more of, dealilng with all those kids, and getting them ready to go back to school. I was glad it wasn't me. I would have had a lot less patience with the kids and the noise and the touching of stuff. And if they had taped me yelling at them (because I would have), it would not have made good TV LOL!

I understand that the first haircut is a milestone, what I found issue with was how only one of the girls was singled out as special with her hair in Kate's eyes. Hannah has always come across as her favorite but this took it to a new level, IMHO.

As for the constant reminding of how much she goes through for 8, it's a given, she doesn't need the sympathy vote anymore. I would think she would come across more empowering/endearing if only she didn't whine about it so much.

I can't remember it well, maybe someone else can, but there was something about Hannah's looks that was a reason why Kate had her hair grown longer than the others. I can't remember what it was, but someone once posted something they had found about it.

You thought she was doing a lot of whining last night? I saw it as just a show of someone with a zillion kids going school shopping (yuck). If TLC didn't need to tape it, I think it would have been much easier to take the twins one night, the little girls another and the little boys another. I couldn't have survived taking them all, and listening to all those kids whine at the same time LOL.
